    Hey there, if it says you can't have them you can't have them. That's how it works, it could be possibly in the process of being recycled, but we can't gather any information about it.

    They might be attached to a Zune account or a banned account. This would take them out of the ability to search for them.

    Tags are also used on other Microsoft services. So it could also be in use on something like Zune. Except for a few months ago when Microsoft started releasing original Xbox gamertags, the only way to get the tag is to wait for the owner to rename the account.

    Unfortunately no, the gamertag has to be recycled inorder to get the gt.
