Recycling Gamertags

Hello, so I've talked to quite a few Microsoft Support Team Members about this issue. There's a certain gamer tag that i need to be recycled. (If anyone from support sees this ill tell you the gamer-tag just so no one takes the gamer-tag).
So basically the 3 people i've talked to all said that the gamer-tag i want is CURRENTLY being recycled due to inactivity. I just want to see if i can get it transferred to my account instead of waiting 2-3 years for another gamer-tag releasing like in 2011
and 2016. So if any one with the power to help change my gamer-tag to the one i want sees this please respond and we can hopefully get it situated.

Yeah but the gamertag isnt in use anymore when you go to look up the gamertag I want no profile comes up

There is no way to request a gamertag like that. All you can do is wait for it to be freed up and then see if you can take it.

Unfortunately, no one here will be able to help force a gamertag back into the pool, especially customer support.

If the account that owns the gamertag is currently inactive, then you'll have to wait up to
five years for the individual account termination (4,a,ii) to go into effect, assuming this user won't log back into any Microsoft service (Xbox Live,
Office, Outlook, MS Emails, Zune, GFWL, etc) within that timeframe. As far as I know, Microsoft is not currently planning another big gamertag refresh at this time.

My suggestion? It would be best to find another name.

Just as a side note, it's 5 inactive years from the date the rules changed in 2016.

Is Gamertag Recycling a random process that goes daily, or they just recycle a bunch of gamertags on a specific date?

You just have to be patient, Xbox is working on "recycling" old Gamertags just be patient and keep your eye on the Gamertag and Hopefully it will be Recycled for your use

I searched for the gamertag i wanted every which way. It was not due to spaces or anything like that. I already know that doing that doesn’t make it unique. I’ve been an Xbox gamer for a very long time. But thanks anyway

The system doesn't see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique. So usually that means you're searching for "gamertag" which won't show up, but the tag may actually be in use as "gamer tag".

The gamertag I wanted says it’s already in use, so i had to choose another version of it. However, When I searched the gamertag to see who has it, nothing came up. Said there was no match. So what does that mean? Is it just that whoever owns it doesn’t
actually have an xbox live account, just a microsoft account or something?
