Recovering Microsoft password for my child's account.

We understand your frustration if you discover you can't recover the account. The account recovery process is designed to protect your account and its contents.

This means our support agents and advocates can't do more than you can do for yourself with the account recovery form. They don't have the ability to send you password reset links or provide you other ways to access or change account details.

What you can do...

Fill out the account recovery form again We recommend that you try filling out the account recovery form again. You can do this up to two times per day. Do this if you find more information or remember something else about your account that will help.

Create a new Microsoft account You can always create a new Microsoft account in the interim if you’re having trouble with the recovery request and try again later when you remember something new that might help.

Add security and recovery features to your new account If you decide to create a new Microsoft account we recommend you follow the guidance to add one or more additional security contact info methods to your account right away. Review and set up an alternative sign in methods, such as the Microsoft Authenticator app to use to sign into your account.

Thank you for the reply, unfortunately the recovery request wasn’t granted and, because I was one day over the 2 week refund time period my refund was refused. I have to say I find this extremely frustrating and the refund rule pointlessly rigid. Common sense and little empathy would lead most people to see that my request for a refund was perfectly reasonable. All this has done is make me resent Microsoft and be less likely to use your services in future where there is an alternative.

Microsoft takes security and privacy very seriously. Please follow the steps outlined in this guide to reset a forgotten Microsoft account password.

If you follow all of the steps in the above guide, fill out the recovery form and the account recovery wasn’t granted, you may request a refund for the digital games for your child’s account.

I set up a child account and added money to it but I forgot the password so now I cannot get the child account to log on the Xbox One to be able to use the Microsoft account balance so basically the Xbox One shows the child account but when I click on
the profile to get the gamertag set up on it it wants to password that I do not remember so basically I can't get into the account without a password and I've tried recover it and I still can't recover it is there a way to remove the child account and the
money still be on the parent account

Reset or recover your Microsoft account password

Go to the above site and follow the instructions there you can recover the account without knowing the email etc. Once you recover your account and can get back in you should then be able to see what your child's account email is under the family feature.
