Recovering GT

    Recovering GT


    I had an old gamertag about 10 years ago. I have access to the email address on file, I was able to receive the recovery code sent by xbox support chat. When I log into xbox.com with that same email address, it shows a NEW gamertag that was created a couple
    of days ago. The new gamertag was created when I signed into xbox.com with the email address (it acted like it was a new account).

    Is there anyway we can get the old GT associated with the email address?

    Recovering GT glitch?

    Its not a glitch, it is part of LIVE. Many games have a rotating picture, for a while it'll be one and then it'll switch to another.

    -

    To be honest I like the Marcus picture for Gears of War 3, I'm always disappointed when it goes to the Crimson Omen.

    Recovering my GT

    First go to this page
    live.xbox.com/.../Protection     and push the green button so downloading of your profile is required. Then remove the GT from your memory unit. Then (I hope) you'll be able to download the profile. Let us know how it goes...

    Thanks for the reply! I created a new MS account (hotmail address). I used the steps but am getting the following error:

    "Sorry, we can't change your Microsoft account right now."

    I am assuming I am getting this error since the 'new' gamertag () that was created is less than 30 days old. Is this correct?

    If this is correct, after 30 days I can move the "" gamertag to my new MS account. Once that is done, how do I get the old GT (TheBigMcNasty) associated with it's email address, or now, the email address that "" was moved away
    from?

    It could either be an issue with the service or that you need to wait 30 days. If you don't want to wait you could try contacting phone support so they can help with moving the email address.

    If done properly it should free up the gamertag that was previously attached to the main address so you can access it with the login/password that you are used to.

    The RECOVER ACCOUNT tool is not meant to be used daily and over time can cause a profile to become corrupt rendering it useless. You should invest in an XBOX COMPATIBLE USB FLASH DRIVE and store your profile on that. That way when you go to your friends
    house all you have to do is plug it and go.



    What error message(s) are you getting? Be exact please.

    i put it on my usb stick before i sent in my xbox for repairs last month. when i got it back and put it back in, no problems occured so i'm wondering if there's another problem with the account
