Recovering Fallout 4 save files from external HD

Since the release, I played 10d+ on Fallout 4 and through all DLC.

I still had the original 1hr save file that autosaves before you leave Vault 111. I created a manual save for the 10d character and opened the 1hr save file and proceeded through most of the main quest until around 7hrs in with normal
autosaves, etc. Technically this is the same character, with the same name, but these are multiple saves with completely different playthroughs and choices. This was done strictly for achievement purposes.

After a few days of playing the newer playthrough, and manually saving, I reloaded the 10d character to unlock 2 Workshop achievements. After those were unlocked, I removed 2 autosaves from the 7hr character. Now it looks like I removed all of those 7hr
character saves, because the only one left was another manual save about 1hr in when I first reached Concord.

After accepting this and playing through the Concord Museum of Freedom quest, I took a break for a day or two. Then decided I wanted to see how MODS work and look. I added a few to my original 10d character after creating a separate save file to have a copy
without any mods. This created an Exitsave and has now replaced all 10d character save files with only the mods save files. So now I have 2 separate save file issues and a big reason to try and recover them, rather than start the game over completely. Mostly
due to the 100,000 Nuka Cade tickets - since I only had about 25,000 to go for that achievement.

I was referred to an EaseUS Data Recovery instructional page that shows how to recover deleted save files from your external hard drive. I have downloaded the software and it's doing a deep scan that takes around 8 hours.

I don't know what files to recover, however, since most of these files look to be very encoded and don't allow any "preview" to see exactly what the file even is.

Is there a less complicated way to possibly recover any of these save files, or does anyone know which file I should be recovering?

I've contacted support and they tried everything to get my save files back. I'm missing about 6 hours worth and they said it might be a syncing problem.

If you have multiple characters you may need to go to Load and press Y to see missing character saves. I'm more inclined to think Baza is correct with the syncing explanation.

 

UPDATE: EaseUS software does not allow any recovery to take place without buying their service.

If the saves go to the Cloud, is there a way to recover deleted saves from the Cloud?

 

Hey jimmy1bones! If game saves were overwritten or deleted they will not be recoverable unfortunately. We do not recommend using any third party recovery programs as we can't guarantee their success. Thanks!

 

I figured that would be the case. I read a few different ideas and options saying different things.

Looks like I will just have to ultimately endure the long walk through the Glowing Sea again. Haha
