Recover save file from old xbox one's hard drive

Hi!

I have this kind complex issue:

To begin with I'll explain the full scenario so it makes sense

I used to have a Xbox one that stopped working suddenly, got too rusted and won't turn on, I even took it to a repair shop that couldn't fix it. all lost.

Later I acquired a new Xbox one (fat, not S or X), when I was about to beging playing a game, instead of choosing to recover my save file from the cloud (which is really precious to me, really high scores etc) I accidentally created a new one and it automatically replaced my save file on the cloud. I know Xbox keeps a local and a cloud game file for each account.

Therefore, I wonder if I can recover that data from the old xbox one hard drive locally… If I take the HDD out of the old unusable Xbox and copy the data from it to a new hard drive and make it accessible on my new Xbox one will I be able to recover the game file? (My game profile data).

Is there any way recover it from the hard drive using it was an external source?

This is really important to me. I've played this game for 7 years and I really don't want the file to be lost forever because of my stupidity

Are you talking about save data for each game? If so you would need to use a transfer cable to transfer your files from the old hard drive. If you know longer have the old hard drive and didnt use the cloud you cant recover the saves

There would be no legit way to do that without being able to boot up the old console. Anything else would violate the terms of service and would not be anything we could advise here.

The transfer cable is for transferring game saves mainly. Once you recover your gamertag, you can redownload all the DLC so you don't need the cable for that.

You can use your old hard drive if you buy an Xbox that is the same as your old one. If you're buying a new Slim and the hard drive is from the older models, then the hard drive is not compatible.

Thanks for the reply. This is a difficult one as the old hard drive has files from the entire system of the old PC. This could mean the error is system files, game files or any other ones. The game pass folder are not accessible as they are for games you
technically do not own. As you get them through game pass. Is the old hard drive a secondary one or the primary? As the best thing would be to reformat the drive so it would match the new PC.

It's not the primary hard drive, but I really don't want to reformat it as it has almost 2 TB of data on it (games, work files... - and everything except for these games works perfectly fine). I'd have to buy another external hard drive just to save my files.

Is it not possible to simply delete these files? By letting the Xbox app manually detect it or anything like that?

Really sorry to hear you were unable to save the data from your old drive.

Sometimes when hard drives fail you can recover the data but it is not always possible.
