    Okay so a strange request.

The gamer tag i am trying to retrieve i used for a long time on the Xbox 360, from 2007ish till about 2013 or so. What i am trying to figure out is the email that is associated with it. I have all 3 email addresses that it would be attached to, and i have
all 3 logins for each one of those. But that gamertag doesn't exist on any of them. I have save game information on my console that reflects that the profile was there. I also still have system files that would reflect any purchases made if a rep would need
    them.

I started down this road because i was trying to see if it was on an old account. I successfully recovered that account, but forgot from almost 12 years ago, that the original account i created when i first made an Xbox 360 account was hacked (and the gamertag
the hacker created was still there lol), so after that happened in the past, i had created ANOTHER account that would have the gamertag i am trying to track down.

I'm not sure how this happened, but as i said, I'm logged into all 3 emails that this gamertag would be associated with and i don't see it on any of them. Could someone tell me exactly how i would go about recovering that? Because i'm slightly confused
at how to approach it. Can support track down that original gamertag and tell me what email is associated with it and restore it if i provide enough information to verify it? It may be that it got hacked too and i didn't know it from my inactivity recently,
and they jacked the profile. I can actually go on xboxgamertag.com and i can see it, along with all of the games that i used that ID for.

I'll also say this; when i attempt to login with one of those emails, i get the "work or school account" and "personal account" options. When i select "work or school account" it will not let me log in, and when i try to recover the password, it says the
account doesn't exist. YET, if i log into the personal account, i can get in just fine, BUT it just goes back to that first profile that got hacked in the past doesn't have the tag im looking for. So i think what may have happened is that i created the gamertag
i am looking for under that same email address and it may be on that "work or school" account.. but idk. I can't get in it to verify it.

Also, the original email that i used for the account has expired and i no longer have access to it. Which in this case i don't think it would help anyway, because it may just try to jump back to the one i have already recovered and have access to. I THINK..
i'm not trying to confuse you guys I'm sorry. It may be on another account i have and the tag itself has somehow got disassociated.

Now that I'm looking at it on xboxgamertag.com, i do see a few games that i didn't play. So maybe it was hacked and i didn't know it! lol.

I don't think the account recovery form would be sufficient in this case, because it never asks for the gamertag specifically. That's what i filled out to get my first account that was previously hacked back, and the gamertag is not on it, just the old hacked
one. But i DO specifically remember making another gamertag after that incident. I even tried to change the gamertag but it added 6666 beside it, and that was kinda retarded because that wasn't going to solve this lol. Of course, none of the games i played
showed up because of that. So i know it's not that unique gamertag that i once had access to.

    :)

    I know it's unrelated, but allow me to slightly correct you since i do work as an IT admin;

"work or school" accounts and "personal" accounts don't always follow that rule. I had many instances where "personal account" for the corporation was the one that worked for the login. What would happen is that the user would login from home on a VPN or
sometimes a mobile device on the account, and they would get disconnected temporarily from the network and try to sign back in. The account would still try to sync, and then incidentally create the "work or school" account.

In my case, i NEVER logged into a VPN EVER under that email address. it was an aim.com email address. You kinda can't do that.

I did find out however that the account wasn't linked to that address after all. BUT a hacker did try to compromise the account tied to that email in the past, and that's what leads me to believe why two accounts (work or school/personal) got created under
that email. I know this because that's the email/account i ran the recovery form on, and i had forgotten all about it, and it brought back old memories of frustration seeing that hacker's gamertag on my old account.

Thank you all, Teresa L helped me out with the live chat option!! When i selected the ask a gamer option, they redirected me to Microsoft's live chat fortunately.

Thst gamertag actually was linked to a service request email account that had a recovery email address that was one of my email accounts i still had access too, so its restored now! Now if i can get EA help to work with me. Their process has been VERY ridiculous
and theres a lot of angry community members. If you guys for some reason know a good person here PM me lol. I got my issue resolved here in one day and I've spent two weeks with them.

Advice on this: What actually happened in my case (and it took me a while to remember it) is that the profile that i had recovered had somehow got deleted a long time ago, and was retrieved by using a service request email (*** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***) back then. It THEN
set the guest account as the MAIN account, and i had totally forgotten that Microsoft put this recovered account into question on that email. There is no way to merge the accounts that i have found to put it back on the same email again, but at least i have
access to it now. So big thing to remember; if this happens to you, give them the email that you think it used to be under. If that email is a recovery email address on a service account (which i know is an EXTREMELY RARE case, but hey, it really might help
someone), they can restore it after you confirm the Gamertag you had and the email verification is sent.

    Cheers :D

    Saturday,

Is it possible Microsoft purged your gamertag for inactivity, and someone created a new gamertag, spelled identically to your old one? While there have been periodic mass purges of millions of inactive accounts, in 2016, Microsoft set a requirement of logging
in once every five years. In 2019, this inactivity period was reduced to two years:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4511051/microsoft-account-activity-policy

If so, your old gamertag might be up for grabs if you wait long enough.

    Good luck,

The support team are able to help if there is enough information about the account that you know. When I forgot my email, they asked details like name and address, passwords once used on the account and a few card details used to make purchases on that
account and they successfully recovered it for me, but this was a couple of years ago I'm not sure if they still can do it this way

As we in this forum are only regular users trying to help others, we can't really look into your accounts, but maybe the following happened:

Since you say it's an account you last used 2013, be aware that Microsoft requires you to use your account once within 5 years, or the account is considered dormant, and will get a randomized Gamertag, to free up the Gamertag for someone else to use (as
you didn't want to use it for 5 years).

To check if you are on the "correct" email (regardless of the Gamertag), go to

    https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders
sign in with each email account and check your purchase history on those respective account.

If you see your games, but the account has a different Gamertag, then the gamertag was renamed because you didn't use it for 5 years.

For Xbox, you will always use the personal account. Company or school accounts are only for Office 356 accounts, Azure and the other "business" services Microsoft offers through their Cloud business for companies and schools.
