Recover data from internal 360 hard drive

my xbox360 is showing the drive as Unformatted. I had game progress saved. I would like to try to recover it. What are my options . I saw a company that claimed they can help. There is a video showing how to take apart the internal drive and taking out the disc and putting it in a new internal drive and using that...which is actually not a bad idea. This way essentially you have a new drive, with the old hard drive disc. microsoft support us useless. Thx

once formatted a disk is all but unrecoverable as sectors are overwritten it gets progressively more unrecoverable

then again the damaged file system probably already trashed lots of data

might be an idea to get a new disk for the console

well support cant do anything about the hdd as the xbox 360 is no longer supported for repairs.

transferring platters needs to be done in a controlled clean area and you need an identical hdd to do what you want. also the platters are probably damaged and might not work anyway.

The problem is that once the drive is formatted over it's very hard to recover data and requires professional data recovery.

The data transfer cable will not plug into the Halo hard drive. The transfer cable evidently cannot tranfer dater from a console with an internal hard drive to another console with an internal hard drive. I will have to transfer my data to an older external
hard drive, then transfer it to the Gears console. I just hope I do not lose any data.

SSD will probably be too expensive. chances are there will be an internal SSD though. with external hard drives for data and such like for 360.
