Recordings Xbox 1

I keep selecting “record what happened” and it records 5-7 seconds of what i wanted. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. This last time i selected 5 mins and it was 7 seconds. Before anyone responds....yes i have plenty of hard drive space and yes
ive triple checked the settings. They have not changed and randomly about 3/5 recordings will be only 5-7 seconds. How do i fix this?

Do you have sufficient storage space to hold the recordings? If you do maybe try changing the quality settings and recording time a few times to see if it helps trigger a change and deliver the selected recording time.

Failing that you could Power Cycle your Xbox by holding the power button in on the Xbox for 10 seconds until it completely turns off then unplug the power from the wall for 5 minutes and try again.

An alternative to this is clearing the Alternate MAC Address in Network settings that will remove any corrupt files etc on the console and should hopefully help with your issue.

Are they always the same game or is it independent of the game you are playing?

I brought an HD PV2 Hauppauge PVR at the very beginning of this year and use it to record on my Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. The PVR uses HDMI connection to the consoles. Have had Xbox 1 since 22 November (launch) and don't quite know how to use the Kinect to record.
With my PVR, and the included software (ArchSoft Showbiz) on my laptop, can record as much or little as I want and it records chat too. Records me chatting through my laptop's built-in mic.

On Battlefield 4, "Xbox, Record That" isn't working, doesn't record anything, even though I get the notification that it does. And game dvr is only recording 1 second clips. Hope this gets fixed ASAP.

For number 1, depends on the resolution that you want to record clips.

On Xbox One X you can record up to 30 seconds on 4K, but when posted, they will we downgraded to 1080p.

On Xbox One S you can record up to 2 minutes on 1080p.

On Xbox you can record up to 15 minutes on 780p.

On the games that can't be recorded, we're yet to find if there is such list.
