Recording audio from the XBox

Hello, Since I changed computers, I am no longer a CD player. My question is whether it is possible for me to save my CD collection on my computer in my Xbox One.

Audio bugs in new Xbox 1 April update.

Since this week's new Xbox 1 April 2018 update there are some major audio bugs when using Groove as background music during games. There are loud audio pops/clicking at random intervals. This also affects game recording audio. When
using Groove as background music, audio cuts out for a second at intervals during xbox DVR game recordings.

Xbox Recording Audio

Since your actual voice isn't being re-broadcasted over the TV audio, the Elgato won't be picking that up (by default, at least).

Elgato states on their support website that in order to record your own voice,
you will need a separate microphone connected to your computer. In that support page, it links you to an article about how to do "live
commentary", which I think would be useful for you too.

If you have a USB flash drive or external hard drive, you can copy the music to the drive, plug the drive into the Xbox One, and play it from there (using Xbox Media Player or another app).

As a side note, consider looking for an external USB disc drive if you still need to use discs on your computer for whatever reason. Most laptops and other computers are ditching disc readers nowadays, but you can pick up a USB disc
drive for around $30-40, last I checked.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. With recording your voice it will not do this through the game bar itself. You either have to do it through the Xbox companion app or have a capture card. As this guide for

setting up streaming windows 10 shows it will only record from the Microphone on the PC not the headset.

Recorded audio

Record game play with or without sounds from your game and your microphone, and choose the audio quality.

To record game sounds with your game clips, turn on Record audio when I record a game.
To choose a different audio quality than the default, select the Audio quality box and choose one of the options.
To record through your microphone, turn on Record audio when I record a game.

There is no way to separate audio between applications when recording, it is recording audio captured from your default audio device set on your computer, unless you could some how separate the applications to use different audio devices it would record
any audio broadcasting on your audio device.

Thanks Brad. I went to the Companion app and it redirects me to the Windows 10 settings that you outlined above. Based on this, looks like the microphone has to be connected to the PC to record my own voice. Is there a way I can request this as a feature?

Audio from Xbox Party Chat is not recorded. Only messages sent directly (outside of parties) are recorded, as they can be abused. Do not accept Party requests from those you don't know/trust.
