"Record That" Without Kinect

You kinect bros aren't getting it. If it's a feature that can be done with a controller then it's not really a kinect only feature. Restricting it to please you would be petty and stupid.

 

You can record clips without using the Kinect - simply snap the game dvr app, choose to start or end a clip, the amount of time to record (up to 5 minutes), then it records. It's easy! You can't record a voice-over or show a clip of your face, but the ability
to record without the Kinect IS there. It actually surprises me how many people don't realize it.

 

The thing is, you got people in these forums who defend Microsoft like it's their first born child. They're just closet fanboys. If you're truly a gamer and a fan of the medium, you want everyone to succeed and you want all games and options for all gamers.
Why people fiercely defend one console over the other, like a rabid dog, is beyond me. Who cares if people like or dislike the Kinect. Who cares if Kinect options become controller options. If you like the Kinect....great. If you don't.....great. At the end
of the day, none of you work for or have a personal stake in Microsoft or Sony or Nintendo. So why do you care?

 

^ Most people feel obliged to defend their purchase, given that it's quite the hefty investment. A $500 box that, compared to other stuff that you do need to get through daily life, isn't important is a symbol of social status. And that's why we take the
irrational route of defending / justifying purchase. It's all mental.

 

^^ That makes sense, I guess. I've been gaming for 30+ years and have owned just about every console ever made and I never thought one was better than the other. I love Nintendo for Mario and Zelda. LovED Sega for their crazy, over the top exclusives. XBOX
for Halo and Gears. Sony for exclusives like The Last of Us and God of War. I never felt the need to choose and defend. As a gamer, I'm happy they ALL exist and by not being a fanboy I've gotten the chance to play a crap ton of great games over the years.

ya, I can see your point. Recording video of your screenplay always needs an accompanying camera...oh wait.....no it doesn't.

This is an excellent question. The PS4 has this similar feature but you just press "Share" on the controller. I am very interested in seeing what Microsoft will do about the "Xbox record" that feature with Kinect less consoles.

There is no reason that console players shouldn't have the ability to change things like resolution and visual effects these days.

Console games are made to run optimally for that console, optimally as in the highest settings the console can handle effectively. I'm surprised to see that actually.

There is no rez war. That would imply it's actually a debatable topic, rather than a few console confused kids out there.

This is the first year where I have a PC that can be called anyway near high-end (i5-3330, 8GB of RAM, and a 2gb GTX 760). The first time I've been able to run all the games installed at their full settings.

Before that I knew compromise. I would give up detail and effects for resolution and frame rate.

There really is no reason as to why console gamers of this generation shouldn't be offered the same options. The 'plug and play' convenience of consoles has already been lost, why not start giving some of the advantages as well.

yes, optimally involves compromise. Happy mediums. When I say optimally though, I don't mean hardware utilization. I mean optimally in what will be perceived as optimal by the user. Selling the idea only 30 fps are needed helps that perception of course.
