I use a Netgear AC1450 with a 4TB Seagate HD hooked up to it. Amazing router and it's on sale at Costco.

Router is part of it, it also depends on your internet provider and the package you are receiving from them.

But for routers I usually recommend; Netgear WNR2000 - Best recommendation for the price. ~$45-$55 at most locations.

Cisco Linksys Routers are also pretty good for connecting to Xbox live

Err... if you are looking for performance just connect a Cat5e or higher ethernet cable from your X1 to the router. Wireless is a luxury and not meant for performance.

Not on one of the newest router supporting traffic shaping. On the DLG 5500 you can set priorties on which device gets most of your band width. I have 2 apple , 4 android a 360 an X1 and a PS3 ,a Wii and 2 may 3 laptops all on at yhe same time wiyh no preformance
hit . Internet is 50megs down 3to 5 megs up. I don have the 360 and x1 on the wired connection. I Also reccomend a surfboard cable modem

If you don't want to spend that much this one works well. Not as new as the Asus but has Simultaneous Dual Band and good wireless coverage because of it. I bought one of these a couple of years ago because my wireless network was saturated with all the
devices on it. This solved that issue. .

Whatever your service provider supplies. I am with Sky and have superfast fibre broadband and their own hub is brilliant.

But whatever provider you are with such as BT, Virgin, TalkTalk etc, they will supply your equipment and it will be fine.
