Rechargeable battery pack -- light will not come on

I see some old threads but they are closed, hence a new question:

I have 2 rechargeable battery packs with cables for the our controllers. On one controller, the amber/white light does not come on. I thought it was a controller issue, because after swapping the cables the problems stayed with the controller. Same with
swapping the battery: problem stayed with the controller. Note that charging works fine -- it's just that the indicator light does not come on. In the past, the light worked for both controllers.

Yesterday I bought a new controller, which I thought would solve the problem. To my surprise, the light will not come on with this (new!) controller either. Swapping cables or batteries still does not help. How is this possible with a new controller?

Thanks for the quick reply. The article is about a controller that is not charging. Charging works fine. It's just the indicator light on the usb cable.

Hi Robert,

Are you using the controller on an Xbox One console or on PC?

The LED light on the Play and Charge kit cable will glow orange indicating the battery is charging and then a white light to indicate the battery is fully charged. If the LED is not glowing at all, then this indicates that there is no battery pack to charge.

Take out the rechargeable battery and insert it again in the correct position. If the LED is not glowing orange and the battery is in the correct position, then the battery is not being detected by the controller or the battery is faulty and cannot be recharged.

To test the cable, remove the battery pack and try using the controller in a wired format. If then controller works without the battery pack and just the cable, then the cable is fine. If the controller works without a problem using standard disposable batteries
then the battery pack is the issue.

Try these tests out and let us know the results!

nope, however you have multiple options that you can choose

batteries, but these must be recharged constantly

rechargeable battery pack with a charging stand, however you cannot play and charge

the best option is a rechargeable battery pack also with a USB recharging wire, this lets you play and recharge your battery at the same time furthermore you can play without the battery pack as long as the wire is plugged in witch is neat
