Rechargeable battery bought through microsoft store will only charge half way

Thanks for bringing this concern to our attention. Based on your description, you are having issues with the newly bought Rechargeable Battery + USB-C cable. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.

It could be the rechargeable battery is faulty and with that we may need to confirm and see how the performance of the controller is too.

1. May we ask if you can try to insert a newly purchased disposable battery to your controller if the Xbox Console will also display the half on battery icon?
   
2. Is your controller Xbox Wireless Controller or Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 Controller?
   
3. What are the happenings before this issue occur? May we know if it shows full on battery icon and works for full 3-4 hours?
   
4. We would like to confirm, did this rechargeable battery has been charged for 4 hours before it shows half on battery icon last few days ago?

Yes. When I put in 2 new disposable batteries in, it shows full charge.

It is a regular Xbox Series S controller that came with the console. I purchased the console and controller also through Microsoft Store 1/21/23. Order #***PII Removed***.

It's been charged for much longer than 4 hours. I don't believe it is the cable because the controller works plugged in with no batteries. I also put the battery in friends controller and tried to charge it with the same results. It will charge for about 5 minutes, only show half charge and then only work for 20 to 30 minutes.
