I don't use rechargeable batteries but I don't believe you can charge them as you play.

I use the official play & charge kit
    www.xbox.com/.../play-and-charge-kit

Had mine since launch & never had an issue & the time between charges is quite long.

The play & charge kits I had for my 360 lasted about 8 years so I expect the xbox one one to be the same.

    hi all I'm new here.

I was just wondering if I brought rechargeable batteries for my xbox 1 controller would I be able to charge them while they was in the pad and continue playing as I don't really wana buy a third party battery pack and knacker up my pad.

any help will be much appreciated.

I'm not sure. Try different batterys to see if its the controller.

Illusion: If this happened with ONE of the rechargeable batteries I would say its probably a bad battery but if both are doing it, I would wonder if there is something the actual controller doesn't like about the energizers. If you have a volt metre that
can measure the power, that may give you a hint and perhaps you got a bad batch of batteries (although 2 makes me wonder).

You should probably contact Energizer and see what they have to say.

Might be to high mAh rating. I'm using Energizer rechargeable 1400 mAh and have no problem except that a good day of gaming will drain those suckers to the point my controller is not registering my button hits correctly (course the inability to turn off
the vibrate is a main drain causing aspect). Try swapping one of the 2000 mAh rechargeable batteries with a regular AA (so you have 1 rechargeable and 1 regular battery in your controller) and see if you get the same results. If it doesn't turn off your controller
    then it's the mAh rating.

    Xbox One Controller question...

The cable wont recharge standard rechargeable batteries but you just put the rechargeable batteries in the AA holder that comes with the controller

    Xbox one s controller charging.

NO YOU CAN NOT (at least not rechargeable Mignon AA batteries)

The Xbox can't know if you have rechargeable AA batteries in it or disposable batteries.

If the controller started to charge non-rechargeable batteries, they might catch fire or explode in your hand.

Microsoft can't let that happen, as people would sue Microsoft to bankruptcy if a controller accidentally charged a non-rechargeable AA battery and it exploded in their hands, getting corrosive battery fluid in the wound and all over their clothes.

Therefore, the Xbox controller will NOT charge the normal, rechargeable AA batteries, as the console can't determine if it is a real rechargeable battery or not.

If you look into the battery compartment, you will see some small golden contacts between the bigger battery contacts. Those are the contacts to charge Play & Charge battery packs.

ONLY THESE CONTACTS will be able to charge the rechargeable battery packs from the Play & Charge kit.

nope, however you have multiple options that you can choose

batteries, but these must be recharged constantly

rechargeable battery pack with a charging stand, however you cannot play and charge

the best option is a rechargeable battery pack also with a USB recharging wire, this lets you play and recharge your battery at the same time furthermore you can play without the battery pack as long as the wire is plugged in witch is neat
