Recent free gamertag change offering no longer available

Hi,

About a month ago I was curious as to how much it would cost me to change my gamertag as I have never changed it before and so I could go and top up some money to change it but I didn't end up doing it because I wanted to wait. Today I decided I wanted to
change it and then it comes up and says I have to pay a fee to change it. Could I please have some help on how to get this first free gamertag change back please?

Uhh... Why should we now be entitled to free gamertag changes?

Nothing, but a hell of a marketing campaign. "How do you change a gamertag? Just do this, and today it's free", while the... other guy... can't change names at all, we are getting a free one.

They do offer a free one upfront, but they also auto assign us our names that are stupid.

I don't think they need to offer it free though, just cool idea, but not required i'm just glad they are giving the names back.

Won't let me change gamertag

There are no free gamertag changes unless your tag was a recent system assigned tag. Hope this helps.

There is no recent free gamertag offering

If you mean the one where you get a free name change within 30days after creation of your account if you were given a randomly generated name

Since you have a custom name that doesn't apply to you

You will have to pay

A gamertag change is only offered to an account that is created newly on Xbox.com or on the Xbox 360 console and
only within the first 30 days of creation. After that 30 days has passed, the free gamertag change is no longer available.

The free gamertag change is only available for the first 30 days of having the gamertag. Since it's been longer than that you'd have to pay the 800 points to change the name.

It never used to be. Only one free change was available to those that took an auto-generated Gamertag.

The one free change for all was a recent thing.

If this is a newly created account, you still get one free gamertag change. I'd take advantage of that while the offer is still available.
