    Hello,

    I received a replacement Xbox a few months ago when mine refused to start up. It was replaced, and since then I have been unable to play any of my DVDs or Blue-Rays. When I put in a DVD it says, "This DVD is made for region 1, and this console is designed for
    region 2" I live in the US and sent in a region 1 console to be replaced. Is there any way to fix this without replacing the console (again)? I already tried changing the location in the system settings. Thanks,

    AVI Format DVDs on Xbox One...

    Can Xbox One play AVI format DVDs and Blu-Rays???

    Lord of the Rings Extended DVDs don't play

    Um, the XBox One does indeed play DVDs, I have tried it testing for surround. I have not tried my LoTR Extended Blu-Rays, I will try them later to see if it affects just the DVDs or the Blu-Rays as well.

    Sorry to hear you're having the problem with your replacement console.

    Did the replacement console come boxed?

    Each console is manufactured for a specific region - it sounds highly probable that you've been sent a replacement which isn't for your region. If you still have the box, you can check the region code at

    support.xbox.com/.../watch-bluray-dvd-movies

    The best way to get your specific issue resolved is to contact support directly. From the support article posted, click "contact us" at the bottom and agree it's the current problem.

    You then have a choice of call back or chat with Microsoft support.

    Hopefully this will help to get your problem resolved quickly!

    You might try deleting and downloading the BluRay app again from the marketplace. Since the Xbox One is not region specific, it is possible the replacement had the wrong region BluRay app downloaded when returned to you.

    Xbox one consoles are region coded to specific regions - game disks for the xbox one console are not coded to regions as per the above link.

    yes the Xbox one comes with blue-ray built in. and will play blue-rays and regular dvd's.

    you replaced the old drive, need more info on this.

    so the games are not playing and they are blue ray so this leads me to think that the blue ray diode is faulty as you CAN still play DVD's which uses a red diode.

    My Xbox One S doesn't play DVD but plays Blu ray disc just fine.

    red laser for dvd and cd blue for blue-ray, also dont replace the drive yourself as they are most likely locked to each mainboard.
