Hey I received a gift from a friend but cannot use/claim it as it was purchased from a different region, how would I go about getting it changed to be usable by me?

It sounds like your gamertag is set for a different region (country) than where you tried to download the item from. Some games are region locked and cannot be downloaded from a different region from which they were originally received. Sorry.

Your friend would have to contact support for a refund and then rebuy it from somewhere where he can send one for your region. The gifting option is region locked and there is no way around that.

Hi, I believe two of the main reasons gift giving is restricted to within the same reason are because of price differences across global regions, and because of different regional laws regarding digital purchases such as refund policies. I'm not 100% certain,
but I believe these are main factors in why gift giving is restricted by region and might be impossible to implement otherwise on the current Xbox One storefront.

Your best bet is probably to try to arrange for them to gift you the corresponding funds using a service like PayPal as suggested above if possible, and then use the funds to purchase the bundle directly. Hope this helps!

I haven't tried it myself but you could try to purchase it or a gift card from the Canada Microsoft site and then send him the code I believe you should be able to use your PayPal account to complete the order hope this helps

I'm sorry if it was gifted from a different region the code cannot be redeemed successfully. Both the one who sent the gift and the one who receive it should be physically in the same region.

Hello!

Gifts are set up by region and will not be redeemable if it was purchased from a different region. Changing consoles region to another region falsely will not change the outcome. The only option would be to have the person that purchased the gift to attempt
to reverse the purchase of the gift as the code will not be able to be redeemed in a different region. Refund Webform
