Reassign/transfer Xbox One Gamer Tag to Son

When my son got an Xbox years ago I set his gamertag up under my Microsoft account. I have since created his own child Microsoft Account and would like to move it over to him because when he makes changes to his profile it affects my Microsoft products and
I'd also like to not have it associated with my email and name.

I know I can set up an alias email address and use that for the XBox, but it will still remain under my name.

Is there anyway to transfer the gamer tag to him without him losing all of his achievements and purchases?

Family account

The progress is linked to your gamer tag. I did for my son when we got him an account of his own. After you do one or two it goes pretty quick. This was the only way I ever found to transfer a game save to a different gamer tag. I mainly did it with some saved worlds he had on Minecraft. If he's only a few levels in it's probably easier to let him replay the levels. Then the progress will be saved on his gamer tag.

xbox preview program reassign to new xbox

my old Xbox stopped working so I got a other one but the preview dashboard with not let me into it. Xbox support asked me to put a message in here for someone to reassign game tag to new Xbox

After just letting it sit for a while, I was finally able to transfer the useless gamer tag created all those months ago to another account. "Aha!" I thought. "Progress!" Then, I logged into my son's offline account, chose the "Join Xbox Live" option...only
to be told the account is already associated with another gamer tag. So, I go online, log into the bogus account, and the gamer tag was successfully transferred to it. Log out, log into son's account...and gamer tag shows up there, too. So, after almost
three months STILL no resolution. And, I feel your pain, Ken8n...it's been suggested to me to give our 12 year old unfettered access through an adult account, too. Not gonna happen.

When you say "Microsoft account" are you referring to your email account associated with the Gamertag?

The same answers given back then, would apply now. Nothing can be transferred between accounts. If he creates a new account, he will start over fresh.
