Reasons I am frustrated/hate my XBOX ONE....

So after four months of having an Xbox one I have to say its becoming ever increasingly the annoying black box on my shelf. My 360 is seeing more use then this lug of a console that never functions the way it should.

So for all those that are getting frustrated lets start a running tab of issues that make us hate our shiny Xbox One.

(frustration with this console is pushing me to my limit now a days, and half of it is not solely the consoles fault)

    Reasons:

    1. Lack of interesting new games actually taking advantage of the power of this new box (not quite microsofts fault) (heres looking at you awful Battlefield 4 multiplayer)

    2. It doesn't do the things the old console did (which in itself is a whole list of issues on its own). But it should have at least done the things the old one did, then more, and more that dazzles me. Not things like integrate with a my cable, skype people,
    etc.

    3. The dang thing constantly will not let me sign in which forces a ten min battle of wits of turn it off turn it on, reset this, reset that.

    4. Interface that constantly switches between screens unnecessarily. (I am not on a tablet why is the programming made for a tablet).

    5. Lack of the one thing that makes me feel like this console is mine. It's in personable with its lack of customization (I know i can change the color if I want; woohoo).

    6. Having to be told by customer support that every time I watch a blueray disc I then have to go in and reset the persistant storage so the first game I load after it will play and not just sit in loading screen limbo.

That is just my current today frustrations and I'm sure there is more issues; yet there is also day's where the frustration is eased off and I enjoy (usually when I play Forza as its the only game that routinely works perfect) my xbox one.

    :)

My next console will not be an xbox product. I am completely disappointed in the level of quality this product has produced for the amount of money I had to pay. I was a big fan of the 360, controller and flawless online play, but with the xbox one I feel
I bought a broken machine along with countless games that partially work. Nothing is open sourced, It cant even read a simple usb stick because they want you to pay for apps to watch movies. Which I feel all this xbox does is trying to get me to pay for extras
that I don't need or want, just a big advertisement. Online play is horrible, xbox one party chat is very spotty at best, super frustrating that you cant talk to your friends when playing the same game. My biggest complaint would have to be the games, so many
have major glitches that make playing online hard or even impossible. examples you say? Need for speed : had trouble saving got 75% of the races done and wouldn't save the rest, wouldn't acknowledged that I beat the game....no matter how many times I tried.
Destiny was way overrated and so full of errors that it made online play impossible literally got the whole animal kingdom as error codes which turns out means nothing. GTA has its fair share of party online problems and huge loading times....I could go on
i am definitely not buying halo... It always seems like im restarting something either the game or the console to make it work. These games are 60-70 bucks and I only get part of the game I have to buy the rest in DLC..... what the ***. I have to PAY for the
console, PAY for the game, PAY for the internet, just so I can PAY, for more apps and movies..... sswwwweeeeeet I feel they went in the wrong direction and the" all in one" has clouded the xbox to the point of not working properly. What I want, what I think
all gamers want is a console that is sleek and powerful able to play huge open world games, online without huge loading times or hiccups. Did I mention the hiccups, you know products that work 100% of the time all the time.

  4. Reasons I am frustrated/hate my XBOX ONE....

I totally understand where you are coming from bro. I have now had to schedule a repair for every generation of Xbox. But I also have faith. It always sucks at the beginning. I was playing COD2 & Rainbow Six:Vegas when xboxlive wasn't all that. But it got
better. I will answer a few of your issues. Hopefully somebody else can assist you fully with the technical aspect.

    1. The lack of new games is due to a lot of game companies still learning & make the most out of the dev kits. They have not reached their full potential, where as on the 360 they know what their limitations are, etc.

    2. I think everyone can agree with you on this. But with new management and leadership roles at MS I can guarantee their doing their up most to better the Xbox One experience. It won't be over night. But it will come in updates.

    4. Microsoft wanted unification by creating everything like windows 8 (Tablets, phone, laptop obviously & xbox)

    5. Customization will also follow in updates that are already being created.

Ok, let me list my "hates"; but 1st a disclaimer... I've been a MS Software developer w/ MSDN access for more than 12 yrs.

I've owned my Xbox1 Titanfall version 6 days. 1st day, box setup went ok. No major gripes. Activated the 14 day Xbox Live Gold subscription & successfully downloaded Titanfall. I'm on a Comcast cat6 hard connction. The game took "forever" to load. Ok ...
whatever. Was looking around the MS Store & saw a free Halo game. Decided to download it. BIG MISTAKE! Apparently the 14 day trial is restricted to Titanfall downloads only. Read that fine print!!! Now IE is throwing a "can't find server error (error code
0x80bb0001). What! ... now IE is munged? So I start looking around. Settings -> Network -> Detailed Network Statistics sez 100% packet loss! WTF! Well thats gotta be my problem. 1/2 day later I figure out that I need to set my Comcast Modem/Router Firewall
to "Minimum" opening up all the nasty UDP/TCP ports hackers love to use. Another call to MS Tech support confirms that the Xbox1 uses ... now wait for it ... port 53 udp/tcp; 80 tcp; 88 udp; 500 udp; 3074 udp/tcp; 3544 udp & finally 4500 udp. As a former sys
admin & MS SQL Server for a State wide agency I now know the Xbox1 has "pants me" security wise & as far as I can tell the current Comcast modem won't allow me to manage individual ports. Anyway, after essentially shutting the Comcast Firewall off I thought
my IE error might be fixed. Silly me, IE still couldn't connect to its server. Another call to MS support was essentially like talking to a deer inthe headlights. Lots of "can I put you on hold again?" I finally maanaged to get a brief glimpse of a 0x08bb0001
error code that seems to be a major pain to xbox developers but no clear MS resolution. So long, long story short I ended up resetting the box to factory defaults & started all over again w/ the Xbox1 setup, Titanfall download & finally after an hour or so
IE started working w/ the bing search. Hollalooya! So I'm feeling pretty happy with myself ... it's only taken 3 days to get my $500 Xbox1 working but what the hey ... its MS & this was a relatively small battle compaired w/ my MSDN adventures. So to celebrate
I decided to watch a movie. Stopped the movie 1/2 way through because I was crashing & start looking for the remote disc eject button/icon. Hummmm now where is a disc eject i77con. Even my "dumb as a bag full of hammers" Dennon Blu-Ray has an eject button
on the remote. I tried the "standard" Y button ... no joy ... so back to Google (now that IE is working) only to find general confusion/frustration in the Xbox1 forums w/ the general consensus being use the manual eject button. Arrrrgggg. Another fight begins.
I finally find the remote eject button in the DVD controls menu. So it takes a half dozen clicks & toggles but, if you're REALLY DETERMINED you can eject your disc remotely. I think ill simply walk over to the box & mash the manual eject button. However, @
60 yrs of age I can say with absolute certainty the the mental exercises/anguish the Xbox1 provides will keep some of us from sliding into senility for years to come. .... and I thought MS Word was infuriating! Xbox1 has done what I thought wasn't possible
... replaced MS Word Bloatware as my #1 hated MS thing! Hope all of you see the positive side of paying $500 + $250 for accessories for a box that will infuriate you on a daily basis. If only I didn't love Halo! Can't wait to see what Xbox1 is going to do
    to me tomorrow.

Philosophically I find myself wondering if golf & MS are proof that Hell actually exists here on a day to day basis.

I would like to know why the hell i wasted my money on the xbox one? I stuck with xbox ever since the very first xbox, and up until now i have been very happy with xbox. The dashboard wont do what i want it to when i click on what i want, my xbox tells me
i have to do a OFFLINE update for titanfall and i have to download data on a usb from my laptop to do this? Im starting to think that maybe the dashboard is somehow connected to my internet speed as i see others clicking on friend list, twitch and whatever
they want their xbox to do with ease. also my xbox will stop apps whenever it wants to??? i sold the kinect as it was a waste of hardware and money in my opinion. obviously i will never get my money back for my xbox from microsoft, and i wish i never brought
it in the first place. I mean why make a console to watch tv on? thats just stupid. 8 gb ram just for a dashboard? a console should be for games, nothing else!!! moving over to PS4 as at least they know how to build a system that works and does what you want
it too. xbox you are a bunch of clowns!!!!!!!

All in all, it has been a really bad customer experience . Not up to the standards that we have been given for any release of the previous consoles.

    1. Voice commands don’t always turn on the Xbox One. I swear, if I don’t use it every day, it simply will stop working.

    2. Handshake between projectors. Definitely not a device that should be used for projectors. Better for TVs. Each update has made this thing a more of a brick than before. The funny thing is that we have been watching movies on it for the last 7 months.
The last update stopped even DVDs from playing.

    3. Handshake between TVs….Not much better.

    4. Cable box and Xbox One not showing a picture. How many times must I fix the communication between the cable box and the Xbox one. At least once per month, something happens that makes it not start up right. My wife, who has no interest in gaming, gave
up and uses cable in another room. Way easier and if it doesn’t work, the cable company can walk her through steps to fix it.

    5. TV Guide slow to come up. Again, way easier to use a cable remote than wait for the Xbox to pull up the guide. Sometimes this process takes 20 to 30 seconds.

    6. Absolutely zero controller compatibility with PC. It has been 7 months now. The line of "it’s coming" has passed. I have given up on Microsoft's follow up. Comparatively, on previous Xbox models, there seemed to be an engagement to want to be #1 in
gaming not just in consoles but even in its uses of this device on a pc. Not anymore.

    7. Numerous updates. You finally get home from work and are excited and want to play a game. Unfortunately, there is an update you thought would have downloaded automatically that didn’t and will take the next 2 hours. So no games for you.

    8. A complete lack of new games. Loved Tomb Raider. Played it on PC. When it came out for Xbox One at $60, it was $5.99 on Steam. I would love to get a new game. But I have also been playing Xbox 360 and PC.

Not to sound like an A-hole, but maybe the Xbox One and you just aren't a good match. If you're really just focused on gaming, perhaps the PS4 is better suited for you. The Xbox One, from day 1, has been advertised as an all-in-one entertainment console
that incorporates Skype, TV, movies, music, etc.

  11. I'm sorry but I have to weigh in on this. I too am a frustrated xbox one owner. The console hasn't worked consistently since launch. It is now June.....7 months in, and I am still plagued with multiple issues, some of which are entirely inexcusable. The
most frustrating has to be the disc read errors I continually receive. I almost want to keep whatever disc is in the tray in order to avoid having to stand in front of my xbox ejecting and re-inserting a disc until the stupid console decides it's ready to
let me play, watch, or whatever. Constant issues signing in to XBL. Stupid user interface that is both unintuitive and completely ugly. Thanks for the new dashboard where we can file complaints, but I am so upset that microsoft would be so foolish as to release
this black turd of a console with so many problems. I have been a supporter of xbox since the first iteration of the console. I fell in love with the xbox when the 360 broke into it's stride. Now I am considering getting rid of this piece of garbage. I am
also not at all interested in the entertainment part of the console one bit. Another thing that really chaps my *** is the fact that microsoft straight up lied to consumers stating that they would not be releasing a version of the xbone without a kinect. I
didn't want that piece of trash, big brother, monitoring device which I consider to be nothing but a novelty anyhow. I would have waited for the kinect-less console had I not been flat out lied to from the beginning. In hindsight, I would never have given
my money to support this piece of garbage excuse for a "next-gen gaming console" and I urge others to refrain. I don't currently own a sony console, but it looks like they may be getting the thousands of dollars of future retail gaming purchases I make over
    the next few years.

So I'm not the only one. I'm already onto my second X1 as I handed back the first one I got. No improvement, the console still freezes in load screens. What really *** me off ( apart from the Kinect) is every time xbox live is down I can't sign in. even
offline so I can't play any of my games and have to wait for live to be fixed. Despite having turned my security settings down so I don't have to enter my password when I sign in, as I don't use the Kinect sensor because I'm tired of waving my arms around
like an idiot, The console still asks me for my password. while writing this I am waiting yet again for the live service I pay for to be back up so I can just sign in to my account and play my saved games.

It's not a big ask. If it was working on the 360 don't change it.

    1. Allow offline sign in so we can play saved games when the service drops as it undoubtedly will again

    2. For developers that hold on to content and sell it as an 'expansion' 6 days after the release of the original game ( I'm talking specifically about Titanfall). It's an insult to consumers and if you think it's a great revenue booster I hope you get a
backlash and fall in support and sales for any future product. I WILL NEVER BUY ANY GAME FROM RESPAWN ENTERTAINMENT AGAIN. EVEN IF SOMEHOW THEY STARTED WORKING ON THE HALO FRANCHISE. Surely Microsoft can establish a code of conduct for developers. Any future
incidents like Titanfall should just be turned into a free update as we've paid for what was marketed as the complete game.

    3. I naively thought that purchasing a digital copy of a movie would mean I could download it on to my X1 for buffer free playing whenever I want. Not the case. Allow that to happen so we're not dependant on xbox lives reliability.

    4. Reliability. It boils down to that. Start coming up with a back up for when xbox live is down. offline sign in. It's not hard. 360 had it. I know I've repeated myself, but hopefully it'll sink in. Once more: OFFLINE SIGN IN.

I was a Xbox fan when it first popped up. I bought the xbox over PS2. I bought 360 over PS3. I bought X1 over PS4. up until this X1 I was happy. I dealt with the rrod. However, this one was the final straw. When whatever is next is released I will not be
buying Microsoft. Until then I'll be putting up with and waiting for patches of the numerous flaws of the X1 and the live service.

Reasons I am frustrated/hate my XBOX ONE....

From a casual user perspective, I'm not to happy with my Xbox One either.

    1. I don't trust having the Kinect on all the time, watching and listening to me and my family. So, that means we have to remember to sign in every time we turn on the system. Annoying! Why can't we set a default user, and switch users as needed?

    2. With occasional game play, DVD play, YouTube, Netflix, and TV watching, we have at least one crash per week. We've made 2 calls to support where we've had to go through an extensive reset procedure to fix whatever problem was happening. Problems have
ranged from crashed programs, DVDs that stop playing part-way (but play fine on PS4), games crashing/freezing, network not connecting, and more.

    3. IMO, PS4 is better for games. If I have a choice, I buy games on the PS4. I just like the controller better, the interface better... I can't point a finger at specifics, but it's just a better gaming system, again IMO.

    4. Kinect can't seem to find me, but it's great at finding my 3-year-old. And when it does, it signs her in (with all of her parental restrictions) over me. Why not add a "keep me signed in" option for this situation, so that Kinect can recognize her, but
it still keeps me signed in?

    5. If my child's account is signed in, and then I sign in, for some reason it still thinks she's signed in when we watch a DVD. So, I have to "type" in my password with the controller.

    6. When Skype-ing, Kinect auto-zooms to whoever's face it finds, which I suppose is fine. But sometimes it doesn't auto-detect people very well, or it misses people on the edge of the viewing area. It would be better if there was some manual control over
    where it looked and zoomed.

I'm sure there's more. It just feels like I'm more annoyed and frustrated by my Xbox One than I'm happy to have it. It's more of a hindrance than anything else. Hopefully this stuff is worked out, but it's not encouraging when it's been so many months,
and these things still aren't fixed.

    where it looked and zoomed.
