Really Microsoft? No optical port? (From an irate Astro A40s owner)

Every time you release a new system, you scream “We dont really care about you. Just buy our ****.”

What was it during the XBox One launch? Required internet connection and inability to play used games? Yeah you HAD to roll that one back didn’t you because Sony humiliated you at CES.

Anyways, this time around it looks like you’ve shut out the ability to use a lot of peripherls we had on the xbox one. Specifically i want to call out the fact that you ditched the optical port. So now my Astro A40 headphones (or any other external audio device) will not work on it. You offered to work around solution. Not even an adapter. This won’t get as much attention as it did during the whole XBox One fiasco... but it still shows that you couldnt care less. Just want all of YOUR stuff bought instead right?

I can keep going in to detail about all of this with other areas of the new console (but people will figure it out eventually)

I want to like you guys because for the most part ive enjoyed being an XBox player. But with stuff like this im seriously considering jumping on Sony’s ship. Who also left out the optical port.... but they made it easy to actually connect an adapter instead!!!!

So instead of just buying a new headset, which will possibly be better quality, you would rather ditch all of that and buy a PS5, an adapter and all your games again?

The sooner people realise that big corporations don't care about you the better. Nobody should ever show brand loyalty to a big corporation, if your'e not happy with something do the right thing and jump ship, enough people do this and the big corporation will change.

But it will send the data down USB instead of optical.

And just so you know. PS5 have been reported as being compatible with USB 3 external audio adapters that convert to optical. XBox, not so much. Wonder why

No firmware update will magically conjure an optical signal.

Xbox doesn’t allow unauthorized peripherals.
