Please make sure that your console is located in a well ventilated area, so that all of the fans can work effectively. This means no clutter either side of the console or on top.

If it is well ventilated and the issue still occurs, I suggest requesting a repair/replacement under warranty at https://devicesupport.microsoft.com/

As Eden said, make sure it has a little breathing room around it. The other question, how close did you have to get to catch the odor? If you were right next to the vents this might not be a big deal, just new electronics breaking in, but if you were a
few feet away I'd exchange it.

It doesnt smell burnt but it was pretty hot, im gonna let it rest unplug for a little while and check later on

I understand. The smell of plastic or smell of a hair dryer is dependent on the amount of heat produced by your console. If it's not that too hot, that should be fine. But if you observed that the smell is too strong like it's burning plastic on a regular usage, please send it for replacement or repair.

To further isolate the issue, try to use a different app or game and see if one them is causing the heat issue.
