Really high latency on wired connection on xbox one.

I recently noticed that my latency on my xbox one was really high. It used to be under 100ms, but now it's over 200ms. I'm not sure what is causing this issue.I'm using a wired connection and I live in an urban area in the province of Alberta which is in
Canada.

Have my Xbox One hard wired. Latency of 115ms on that device all others have 25 to 30 ms times Speed is 60 meg. I have Factory Reset my modem numerous times and 0 packet loss. Have seen many others with same issue Any fixes for this yet?

that xbox latency test can be pretty inaccurate , is it effecting gameplay ?

 

I would recommend that you restart your router. Make sure it is switched off for 30 seconds. Once restarted, run the network and multiplayer tests in the network settings.

 

Tried resetting my router earlier but that did not fix the problem.Will do it again it later today to check if it will fix the problem. Also my ISP is Shaw communications.

Same thing here. Started about three days ago, and since then my connection to multiplayer and parties is horrible. Detailed Network Statistics on the Xbox One have shown, consistently, a latency of 65-75 since I've owned the console. Now, suddenly, the
latency is consistently 220-250. Not sure if it's directly related, but every time I turn my Xbox on now, my modem will restart. If it's turned completely off and in energy-saving mode... no problems.

I've reset my modem/router manually and have reviewed my signal levels to the modem. All normal and within range. I verified with my ISP and they said everything looks great on their end. One of Microsoft's servers go down or something, causing us to be
re-routed and increasing the ping? I'm not too informed on how exactly that works.

 

Same problem just last night I did a speed test through the Xbox One everything was normal 120 down, 24 up, 0 packet loss. But my latency show 250 ms. Latency is normally 72-81. Does anyone think that maybe changing the DNS will help?

 

Also here in Missouri using Mediacom for my Internet provider.

 

Yep, same with me, Shinobi. And no, I changed the DNS last night to Google's, didn't make a difference. I'm also using Mediacom. Speeds normal, no packet loss.

Are you having issues with Live that coincide with this too, like myself? Kicked from matches, parties?

 

I have not tried online gaming yet. I noticed that sling tv was having longer times before connecting. Also I did notice that when I checked battlefield 4 speed test through the Xbox One that the ping was only 17ms. And titanfall would check at 50ms. But
titanfall took a long time to find the server. I just didn't have time to actually put them into a play test.

My brother checked his xbox one speed test but it is the normal 71 ms through the Xbox. He uses centurylink though. I wonder if this is a mediacom issue and maybe a few other select ISPS. Mediacom had an outage in my area two nights ago.

 

Funny, the Mediacom rep told me this morning that there was a small outage in my area during that same time. "Due to equipment" he said, before also saying there shouldn't be any issues. Can't be a coincidence, but we're not even in the same state! That's
the problem with stuff like this... never know if it's an Xbox issue, or if Mediacom and others are just totally unreliable ISPs. One will tell you it's the other.

 

Well I did another test on Xbox One... Latency is now normal but my download and upload are slower, 26mbps and 9mbps. Also packet loss is 11%. I only had Mediacom two weeks and only one of those days was near perfect. Not impressed.

 

They're pretty horrible lately. Their "peak hours" seem to be about 20 hrs/day, because the only time I get close to advertised speeds is extremely late at night or very early morning. I get 1/4 of those speeds at any other time. One quarter. And this is
wired.

Still in touch with Mediacom, and now he's saying that I'm having upstream issues. I never thought I'd prefer to go back to DSL instead of cable, but I'm just about to make the call. Definitely sounds like this is an ISP problem.

 

This is why I haven't attempted to play online or party up. I'm not patient enough if it gets screwy and I work during the optimal playing times normally so I generally muss that 4 hours window of a good connection. Sad thing is my landowner will only allow
Mediacom cuz she doesn't want extra holes in the apartments. And I really wanted the fiber provider... if you find a solution with mediacom please let me know.
