Back in December I paid to change my Gamertag everything was fire up until yesterday I had logged on the Xbox web site noticed my Gamertag was not right so I checked a few other ways well still was not right then I contacted XBox support they sad I had to
contract the enforcement team well I want to know why my account was forced changed it was not offensive what so ever when I logged on to XBox live I debt even Get an opportunity top change it to something else I need anyone to fix this problem this its not
right how is [Mod removed] offensive or profane Its not it wild not be so bad if I actually did something wrong but I did not if anything the xbl community loved my Gamertag this is the first time I've ever had this happen please fix this at least let me change

How do you get someone's gamertag that hasn't played since xbox original and has no games, rep, avatar or gamerscore??

You don't, unless Microsoft is willing to delete them which I doubt will happen anytime soon though.

What's even more annoying are those Microsoft "Zune" accounts. It's people who don't even play Xbox at all but their usernames are also gamertags, so you can't use them. Microsoft tried to make it easy for those who do use both, so your names are the same, which is dumb imo.

Well the thing is the only way to actually check is by trying to take the name

And No searching for a name doesnt work

You have to be exact with the spelling and case

Gamertag is the same as a million different combinations of GamerTag or gamer tag

And no noone will write a randomizer program to look it up it will take years

If the system says its taken its taken no matter what variation your friend is trying to search

You are going to have to spell it differently it is that simple

The only way your "friend " would know if the name is taken if he clicked accept when chsnging his name so he obviously didnt check

Searching a variation will not show if a name is taken

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the forums with this situation. I understand you're trying to change your gamertag but it says its unavailable. Unfortunately there are many reasons a gamertag may be unavailable. It might seem like the gamertag is unregistered
in a search but there's a chance its tied to an old inactive or shut down account. Gamertags do get released back to the public at some times from some of these old outdated account that were holding the tags. Here's an article talking about that for a bit

that's a really odd behavior, could you please try to logout from your account and login again to see if it fix the issue ?

Yes I am sure that they were taken the same day. I was really into the gamertag release and I added a bunch Gamertags before the release happened. I also talked to Xbox support and they agreed with me and sent me here. They checked the Gamertags that I gave
them as an example and they said there were really created the same day.
