    I've recently been having an issue with my xbox one where it won't read certain games or dvd's. After two days of talking to customer support with no luck, it turns out that I have to send my xbox in for service. The big problem is that my console is no
    longer under warranty, so I'm going to be charged more than $100 dollars for the repair.

    The disc read problem was in no way my fault. I've babied my xbox one from the moment I got it, never dropping it or exposing it to something it shouldn't be. This problem is the fault of Microsoft, but I'm the one who has to pay for the repairs.

    This whole experience has me inclined to not purchase any future xbox consoles. What's the point if, after two years, things stop working through no fault of your own? I've been a loyal xbox fan since the original console, and I've been on xbox live for
    more than a decade. I got the red ring of death on my 360, it was repaired for free, and is still working fine today. This experience, however, has me really questioning my loyalty to the xbox brand. It might not mean that much to them, but losing me as a
    customer will likely cost them thousands of dollars over time.

    Agreed. Their customer service is atrocious. I don't think I'll be giving them another dime of my money in the future. No DLC, no new releases. I'm really disappointed.

    Can't buy RDR by using microsoft balance

    Well, the service is now up, but the deal is gone (went back to $29.99 from $7.49). I missed the deal completely because of some service problem on Xbox live. Phoned in the customer support, and I was told there's nothing that Microsoft can do to set things
    right. Really disappointed!

    You frustration is understandable but unfortunately things to break and have to be repaired. No one in the forums is going to be able to change the outcome of the decision. If all troubleshooting has failed then a repair is the only option.

    That is pretty much how it works with any piece of electronic equipment. There are moving parts so even though you baby it, there is still a chance something can wear down over time. Unfortunately that usually happens after a warranty ends.

  6. Things break. Fair enough, but this seems more like a software problem on their end. Why would every other game I own except for Skrim work? (yes I did try it on my friend's xbox to make sure the disc was ok) I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a company
    like Microsoft to stand by a product that they charge several hundred dollars for. Maybe not until the end of time, but definitely this early in a system's life

    Sorry to hear the disc isn't working. Since all of the troubleshooting that can be done sounds like it has been done a repair may be in order, but as a sort of a work around since it sounds like the game is working on your friends console. Have you tried
    to copy the installation file from their console to your console and then run the game? Or, have you tried to replace the Skyrim disc to see if a new copy would work? Generally speaking, if you try to process the console repair online, the prices can be cheaper
    in some cases so that's worth checking out as well.
