Real name sharing

So I've been playing around with name sharing in the hopes of having Mehrunes Dagon or Jango Fett appear on my profile page. However, it seems that even after doing this my page on Xbox One still says Phil.

Is the name linked to the billing info for XBL Gold so that people can't use name settings to bypass changing their Gamertag?

Real Name

You can turn off the ability to share your name. It's an optional feature -

How do You Remove Real Name on Dashboard Log-in?

Hi again, so I was having a think about this because recently my Xbox has been asking me to setup real name sharing which I keep refusing. I can't remember seeing my real name in the account sign-in menu which made think that what if you disabled sharing,
assuming you have it on?

Disable real name sharing

You can turn off name sharing at any time from Settings:

1.Go to the Home screen.

2.Press the Menu button on your controller.

3.Select Settings.

4.Go to Privacy & online safety.

5.Select Custom.

6.Scroll right to the desired setting:

◦Share my real name

◦Share my real name with friends of friends

I changed mine to Moe Leicester with no problems

 

You did so through the Xbox One profile in the friends app? Moe Leicester is damn funny, btw! I was thinking Peter File but decided against it.

It's weird because even after going through that process it displays "here's how you'll appear" yet none of the changes have taken affect. The only difference is that it says Mehrunes above my avatar.

I'm stumped.

 

Contact Support and let them know you're trying to miss-represent yourself online and see if they can help?

 

Aww, don't say it like that. You trying to make me feel bad? Surely it could be argued that it's my profile so I can do what I like?

 

Yeah, all joking aside that's what the problem is.

It's not so much "your profile" as "your profile on XBox LIVE" and the terms and conditions of the latter prevent you from using the "share real name" function as an 'alternate gamertag'.

Besides, MS charge for new gamertags so they'd never give you that option for free.

It seems there is a delay but now my profile says and Mehrunes Dagon so that wraps this up I guess.

The novelty has worn off now, however, and I'm about to change my name back to Phil

 

Just so you know I use a hotmail account for xbox and when il changed my real name to moe leicester for a laugh i didnt realise that it ammended my hotmail real name and all my emails to family and work were signed as email from moe leicester .......be warned
it doesnt just change it on xbox it changes your email too is a bit of a LOL but its caused some severe embarressment
