Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are inquiring about installing games on your console to an external hard disk drive [EHDD].

Absolutely. Technically, you can install any game to your console or EHDD, however, whether you can actually launch the game to play it is a different matter.

Normally, there are restrictions in place so as to not cause confusion whether you can play a game you installed on your console or not by prompting you to have to purchase the game first.

Every digital title you purchase digitally stamps your account, so that the system will allow you to launch the game. You are only allowed to launch games that you purchased on your account, or are granted due to subscription benefits.

If you are installing games onto your EHDD in order to play them on another console, you must have the console that you plan on playing these on properly configured as your

Home Xbox. This will allow anyone on that console to play games that you purchased on your account, while additionally providing any subscription benefits to all users on that console as well.

Hi Ive recently purchased a 1TB external hd 3.0 and when it is plugged in I get a message on the screen saying external storage ready, then when im installing a game to the external hard drive it keeps saying installation stopped then it comes back up with
external storage ready again this happens every 40 seconds or so could someone please help

Thanks for coming to the forums. Are you talking the ready to install game list? If so when you go offline, it will not show your digital content that is ready to install. If the game list is on the external Hard drive. Then yes it could be that the external
is malfunctioning. to test this, you can install some games to the internal hard drive, disconnect the external, go offline see if the games stay there.

Several months ago, I upgraded from an Xbox One to the One X. Since the upgrade, I've had issues with my Ready to Install games not showing under the Ready to Install section. I've downloaded every Games with Gold since the program started, but I'm only
seeing approximately 12 of the most recent games under the GwG section.

I have a 2 TB external hard drive and upon unplugging the external, my entire game library appears in Ready to Install. Upon plugging the external back in, all owned but not installed games are no longer visible. I made sure to change my viewing of Ready
to Install and GwG sections from all storage devices. Suggestions?

Are you trying to install it on internal or external storage? If you have any external storage device please disconnect it, after that power cycle the console and try to install on the internal storage without plugging the external
