Ready for VR? Get Ready to Pay!

Sorry but what a silly thing to say. I've never tried crashing my car into a wall but I know that would be a bad experience.

As it happens I've tried the Oculus Rift in my local Micro-Plus, I found it too heavy but that is just me. The demos they had available there were nothing that wouldn't have played as well on a TV or monitor.

Perhaps things will change, but they aren't there yet.

    :)

^^ What? Crashing cars? What you on about?

If this was just putting in front of your eyes as you say it wouldn't cost 600. I have a piece of cardboard that I bought for 5 euro that has 2 lenses in it. You put your cell phone up to it and hold it to your face. They also have a better version you can
buy for 100. Believe me when I tell you, it is way better than just having close to your eyes. Way way way better.

  5. ...Some people can just not wear glasses and use the focus adjustment with favorable results but only for near sighted people. Oculus comes with 3 lenses and is adjustable to different lengths and depths. I'm sure
not everyone will find them comfortable but they're definitely aware of the challenges it presents...

^This is part of the reason I pretty much agree with Genchy's "flash in the pan" statement... at least for now. Varying levels of visual acuity are commonplace and for now, it
appears they only have a reasonable solution for one type. For those who are far sighted or (like myself), toric, the only choice is to wear glasses with the device strapped on over them.

Also, those who need graduated bifocal or focal point lenses (that's me again) would be completely SOL. That often requires you to be a specific distance from the screen and have
the screen at a fairly specific height in order to keep the majority of the viewable area within the focal point. Even if the focus adjustment issue gets addressed, the height adjustment likely wouldn't. Not to mention that the few times I've even tried to
strap something to my head over top of my glasses... well let's just say the whole thing just felt weird and about drove me crazy.

In any case, the way I see it is they have their work cut out for them if they want it to be both appealing and easy to just pick up and use, without a lot of hassle and adjustment
    that many users may need.

I have pretty small glasses and they still don't fit under the OR. I didn't want to ruin my glasses so I just went without. It's something I'm surprised they overlooked. Sure contacts are an option for some but that's more money and a trip to the eye doctor.

Actually contacts aren't always an option, I have rugby ball shaped eyes and I simply can't use contacts if I am using a computer a lot, as they make me blink and get irritating, I know you can get more expensive lenses for this but I don't see it fully
    fixing the issue.

I wonder if wearing more of a goggle type glass with a strap would be better, Aqua Sphere Eagle goggles might be an option, although not for Blues situation.

I actually wore contacts for probably a year+ but for some reason my eyes changed and no matter what type of lens [material] they tried, it just wouldn't work. They dried out in only a few hours of wearing and blurred or just became too uncomfortable to
    keep wearing.

Would a game like GTA work in VR? I saw a demo of someone playing it and it looked too much like hard work. When i play fifa i dont want to feel like i have played a RL match after every game.

Boas unless you run up and down in your room I doubt it will feel like you've played a real game of fifa.

^Thinking I'd probably be told that's not an option. Toric vision, cataract / lens implant in one eye, previous laser surgery for retinopathy on both... lol Usually when I start asking my eye Doc about options other than glasses, I hear; "Your eyes are doing
very well all things considered. Most procedures are pretty low risk, but in your situation, I can't see taking it".

^fifa is rugby isnt it? If im not running then what is the point of VR? When i saw someone playing GTA using VR they had a treadmill for movement.

@Jersey Devil i wouldnt believe a daily mail article. PS VR has been listed on there at $1100 as well. Someone from sony was quoted as saying it will cost the same as a new console so i would expect $400 to be the price.

Either way i cant see VR being the next big thing.
