Ready for the destiny hype to die already...

didn't realize I misspelled break there...wow, lol. Anyway, I love the self-entitled punks on these forums lately that thing they have the overall say on a post not being worth having or that its "dead" after it was just posted. The point of having legitimate
forums is have legitimate discussions about all things gaming and including topics as such as what I asked about...that is I find the game to have alot of overwhelming hype and plastered ads everywhere that it just comes off as almost obnoxious and I didn't
see what all the fuss was about. I simply wanted to know if there that many people excited about it more than I was or if there were people that felt the same as I did. And I got the consensus that it's about 50.50 on here which leads to good discussion. Maybe
they have seen points in the game that I may have missed or not have known about...and that's the point of good forum discussion.

So if you still feel like this post is "dead", let me explain on your level then...how about read the post, if you don't have anything of quality to post about it, move on the next post and stfu about trying to be disparaging to other members on the forums
here like you're some great forum God. As far as the members offering the usual insight on both sides of this OP, thanks for the continued responses that I expect on xbox.com. We as gamers have our diehard defense in us but we don't have to be utterly disrespectful
in the way we communicate. I often wonder if some of you spent more time trolling the forums than actually playing games these days...if so, I feel that you may need a new hobby in your life.

    :)

Tell you killed my hype for destiny, Titanfall. Destiny was the next gen game I was most excited for until the Angel City trailer.

Now we wait for the Call of Duty hype!! I can't wait for the commercial brakes, I hope it brakes all the sale records of previous CoD and hopefully it won't have any game braking bugs.

  6. I was on the fence for this game until I played the beta - it convinced me that the game is both a grind and a great game and for me at least, worth purchasing. I played through the initial missions in the beta and got to rank 8 (the max rank in the beta)
very quickly and asked myself, "now what?" Because of this, I quickly felt like there wasn't much there, like many of you do now with the full-release. Interestingly enough, this is where I REALLY started having fun with the game. Because there "wasn't much
left to do," I started trying other things - I played multiplayer and got really good at it - I took part in the Iron Banner towards the latter half of the beta and received a unique piece of equipment; I helped others level up and made many new friends in
the process; I tried another character with a different class setup with completely different abilities; I learned about things I had missed, like the 5 golden chests and the unique sparrow you unlock for finding them - so I pursued them fervently; I tried
to find many dead ghosts too, and did; I tried to unlock as many of the grimiore cards to say I had more than everyone else (and I did); friends and I tried to find ways to parkour all over the Tower and were quite successful (we managed to get to the top
    of the tarp over the Iron Banner gate; I played soccer with complete strangers; I tried to purchase as many ships and emblems as I could; I tried to figure out which weapons were the best in each of their categories by process of elimination and experimentation;
I danced with over 30 different players at once; I tried to do speed-runs through restricted areas with monsters that could kill you in 1 shot; I learned about a group of enemy bikers that you could encounter only at certain times, so you could steal one of
their bikes and suddenly have a speeder with guns; etc. - all of this and more helped me realize that this game (and the game's world) is much bigger and better than most players seem to realize - and this was just ONE area featured in the beta!

As of today, I have reached level 8, and can't wait to see what the other worlds, character levels, multiplayer modes and maps, equipment, secrets, smartglass features, players, and various other character builds help provide.

... and to add on top of that, Bungie has made a 10-year commitment to this game's franchise! This means that even if you truly don't believe me and think this game is rather miniscule with what you can or can't do, there will be plenty more coming down
the pipeline that will be involving the Destiny universe. I for one, knowing what Bungie has accomplished in the past, and knowing what I've experienced thus far with the Destiny beta, am absolutely excited to see what else they bring to the table, along with
all of their well-hidden in-game secrets that they're so well known for.

So far, in my book, they've more than succeeded. I'm sorry many of you can't seem to see that - if you can't, I truly believe you're missing out on pursuing what could otherwise be... A great destiny.

  7. I really like it so far.

I was a little on the fence after the beta, but i'm a huge fan of Bungie so I went ahead and got it.

I've had a lot of fun, the weapons enemies and music is cool. Seems very Halo influenced but thats okay.

Does anyone know around how many hours the main quest line is supposed to be?

  8. Ready for the destiny hype to die already...

Well, if you challenge yourself by doing all of the missions on hard difficulty and going solo, it can become an absolute grind that rivals Halo's legendary difficulty modes - as I said, in another thread, it took me well over 2 hours and 17 minutes to do
exactly that in just the game's very 1st strike mission. If it takes that long to get through 1 mission, try to imagine just how long the entire game's story is going to be. Ready for the destiny hype to die already... ;)

    @GG

So it appears there will be a light at the end of the tunnel for this grindy feeling I currently have at lvl 5.

So there is depth that I haven't seen but does the social aspect of it change? I'm currently in a freeplay type area where you do missions yet I can't seem to be able to communicate or join other players. The game is obviously designed with multiplayer/co-op
in mind yet either I'm missing something or they have made it very difficult to group.

Well I seriously doubt that. Been at it for 5 hours so far, haven't even finished the Moon.

Ready for the destiny hype to die already...

So is this game supposed to have episodic content to keep driving the story or can they actually rewrite parts of the campaign based off of player feedback since they are sort of combining the shooter/mmo genre? That would def. be game changer and more of
what I had hoped for in the Defiance game.

Played a fair bit of the game today ( reached Level 12 ) ...

Why I don't think it's a bad game by any means, in fact its a lot of fun in co-op but for me it's nothing I haven't seen or played in a FPS ( with RPG elements ) before.

I dunno, maybe I'm just missing something or it's just a case of we are all different, some will love it, some won't and others like me will be somewhere in between.

Again, enjoying it, what it does it does well but up to yet I'm in no way "WOWED" by it.

  15. Rand, press start and go press LB to go to the roster (or left). There you can see all of the people currently in your fireteam (think 3-man squad), your friends list that'll show who's currently playing the game, and anyone else that is in the current "zone"
or "area" as you. From here you can join, message, invite, etc. Ready for the destiny hype to die already... ;)
