    I'm a happy owner of Xbox 360 for many years already. Once upon a time I've already had a Gold subscription but cancelled it about a year ago. Recently I've relocated to another country and thus changed my account region accordingly. I've also added local
    credit card and was really looking forward to reactivate my gold subscription when I faced first problems. There was no easy way to do it: "My subscriptions" web page showed my Gold subscription cancelled, not offering to re-enable it; Dashboard (Settings
    -> Account -> Statuses) showed LIVE FREE status without the ability to change it.

    So after some time I was finally able to (as I thought) reactivate my gold subscription, but it still look weird: "My subscriptions" page shows it active, but payment method is still my old credit card (bound to the old region; and when I try to change it
    - it doesn't show my new credit card there).

    And the saddest thing it that Gold subscription doesn't really work - Dashboard still shows LIVE FREE status without the ability to change it, multiplayer doesn't work, etc.

    So how can I get rid of that old subscription totally and then just get the brand new one bound to the correct region, correct payment method and most importantly working?

    Hey Augmented, when downloading the games with gold your physical location needs to match your accounts region. Not all games are available in all regions. You are receiving an error message with redeeming your gold card because subscription cards are region
    locked. So unless you bought the card from an American retail store it would not work on your account. I recommend changing your region to Portugal and downloading whatever the available game with gold is for your region

    Moving your Xbox Live Account to a New Region

    Microsoft has finally made moving your Xbox Live account to a new region possible! First off, here are the important factors:


    • You can only move your Xbox Live account to an existing, covered region. That means that if you decide to become one of Santa's Helpers at the North Pole,youmay have to leave you Xbox Live account at your parents house in the US.
    • You can only move your Xbox Live account between regions once every 3 months. If you're moving regions more often than that, well, then you can probably afford to buy a secondary Xbox Reactivated after changing account region Gold subscription doesn't work :)

    What will be moved with you, along with your profile:


    • All of the time left on your Gold Membership will move with you. If you have your Gold Membership paid for through 2014, don't worry-You won't lose it!
    • You keep all of your Microsoft Points as well.
    • The rest of your profile that you've worked so hard to get....i.e. Your gamerscore, unlocked achievements, avatar items, friends list, etc.

    Not everything may be available in your new region, but on the flip side, some new things may be available!


    • Various services may or may not be available. An example of this is The Xfinity app. Whereas Xfinity is available in the US, overseas, it may not be if Xfinity/Comcast is not available there. You can check out the Xbox.com website for a specific region to see what services are available for each region. Click on the region that you'd like to see at the bottom of any Xbox.com page.
    • If you have any subscriptions through Xbox Music, those subscriptions WILL NOT transfer and will automatically be cancelled when you move. There are no refunds on any time remaining, so I'd recommend cancelling your subscription a little bit ahead of time so that the remainder of your subscription gets used before you move.
    • Download any content that you've purchased, such as music, movies or TV shows. Depending on where you move to, some of that content may be blocked due to restrictions or legalities.

    Sorry to hear you're having these problems. Can you please try logging in to commerce.microsoft.com and ensure that the new car is set as Primary. After you do that you can delete the older card.

    Also, which country do you live in and which country is your gamertag set for?

Talked to the support guy on chat today - ended up with removing my Russian bank card from the account to make my Estonia card primary (yes, I've moved from Russia to Estonia as an answer to the second question Reactivated after changing account region Gold subscription doesn't work :) ). But unfortunately this didn't help -
    the subscription is still active in the account.microsoft.com (it gave me a month trial for the second time for some reason), but the console doesn't see it, nor allows to upgrade my account to Gold. At the same time my Estonian bank card is perfectly fine
    - used it 2 days ago to purchase a game from the console.

    All this gives me a strong belief that the subscription is somehow still bound to the old region (i.e. Russia), which makes it unusable for the console. Seems like I'm going to have another chat session with support...

    It's because Estonia isn't a xbox live region

    You aren't supposed.to use the tool to migrate to non xbox live regions

    You can add an card all you want but you cannot use Estonia as your xbox livr region

    As a WA support suggested migrating the account to the LIVE region and use VPN to make purchases... And since I've just migrated my account I won't be able to migrate it at least 3 months. So I believe I'll just leave it as is...

    Currency doesn't transfer over but a gold subscription does.

    It won't transfer if it's not a live supported country.

    When did you change region & what region did you change it to?
