Re XBOX ONE: How do you play games without any instructions ? I'm not a JEDI Knight and ...

I have an XBOX one with GOLD membership. I have managed to set up the XBOX one so that it does everything. HOWEVER I have bought a nice cross section of games FIFA 14, Forza 5, Madden and Dead Rising 3. BUT I have no idea how to play these games because
there are no instructions in the games boxes and try as I may, I have not found any PDF manuals online on MSoft or EAsports sites. I understand that XBOX 360 games had instructions but I didn't have one. How are you supposed to play games when there are no
instructions. Whose bright idea was it. who thought that selling games without instructions was a good idea ???

I spent ages navigating all the initial problems of not being able to use my XBOX ONE and now I have everything set up and games installed so they don't just stall or send meaningless error messages, I can't play the games. How can you get even the simplest
enjoyment out of a game when playing it is a case of trial and error ??

Anyone know which cave with a troll guarding it has instructions for these games. They must be hidden somewhere or how did the testers play the games ? (or like most MS software, do customers beta test everything for them !!!! ) EAsports were no better,
they didn't even publish the 'Can't save' KNOWN problem (known to them and anyone who eventually got through to them like I did after 2 weeks !!!)

I have trolled both sites and come up against the same brick walls. where are they hiding the instructions ?

If you could play one Original Xbox game online again, what would it be?

There are a few good ones mentioned here and there but my two favourite were Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Brute Force.

in black ops yes, but in mw2 I actually play dom and search

 

Manuals were fazed out in the last few years on the 360 ,some games have a section in the options part which shows you the controls like dead rising I believe, and on fifa you can see what the buttons are when you select sides or go to controller settings,
everything's there on the game just need to route around a bit

I do agree though I used to love reading the manual on the way home from buying a game or sitting on the toilet

 

Most of the games i've played have a help option when pressed brings up an instuction manual of sorts at the side of the screen.

Do miss a proper manual myself though.

 

"Dead Rising 3" isn't too hard at all as it pretty much walks you through the controls as you start to play.

"Forza", well all you need to know for now is RT to accellerate and LT to brake. The rest are on screen prompts.

"Madden" I don't own... but "FIFA 14"... I haven't played "FIFA" in ages and apart from "A" passes and a quick tap of "B" shoots... and "A" seems to make my defender run after the guy with the ball... well it's no wonder I lost on penalties to Accrington
Stanley as Barcelona.

The game's much deeper than the surface controls suggest. If you play through the "Skills" section then "How to play... and play well" is gradually revealed.

Also... on pretty much all of the ONE games I have, if you hit pause you can select "Help" which gives you a breakdown of how to play.

It looks like the OP has not played many console games with not having a 360 so I can imagine it's quite daunting to get started without a page to refer to whilst playing. I used to have to sit with the book in front of me when I got a new game.

Now they do tend to walk you through how to play although FIFA 14 does not seem to do this and I'd never played it before and just find it has too many buttons to use for a n00b like myself.

live.xbox.com/.../Profile if you want a good introduction I found Ryse and Tomb Raider really easy to pick up and play. I'd say Tomb Raider was a better game to play
through as Ryse gets a bit repetitive. I can imagine Madden will require lots of buttons so will be difficult if your not used to a controller.
