    I put a disc (game) in my xbox one yesterday, it came with a response saying disc damaged and not working. I tried all my other games and this message applied to all, I know the discs are not damaged and in good condition. I tried a game once more and
    it worked when before it didn't. I have read other people have had issues with this, I was curious as to which course of action people have been taking, whether sending the xbox back under warranty? Also if they have how are people backing up saved data seen
    as though there is no external hard drive comparability. Many thanks.

    Disc drives malfunctioning in Xbox One units

    I just read an article that says Microsoft is acknowledging faulty disc drives in some Xbox One units. Some people are having a problem with the drive making a grinding noise and not reading the disc, so if you have this problem, you're not alone!

    its probably affecting less than 10 maybe even 5% of them xbox one consoles, but it is an apparent problem that doesnt seem too all uncommon.

    Take it back to the shop you bought it and ask them to sort it.

    ^^ This or you will have to send it off for repair.

    Had 2 faulty disc drives myself & had to send them off for replacement,takes about 7 working days but if you can take back to the shop that would be better.

    As for your saves,everything is saved to the "cloud" as well as your hard drive so when you get a replacement & start your game it will download your last save,you wont lose them so don't worry.

    Had 2 faulty disc drives myself & had to send them off for replacement,takes about 7 working days but if you can take back to the shop that would be better.

    As for your saves,everything is saved to the "cloud" as well as your hard drive so when you get a replacement & start your game it will download your last save,you wont lose them so don't worry.

    Xbox One X: we'll see.

    Extended warranties are usually down to the seller to provide & organise.

    To be honest if you are in the U.K. then GAME would be a better bet,they offer a extended warranty at the same price as Microsoft & most of the time they will swap your console there & then in store if it develops a fault.

    USB 3.0 Drive... Can I use it to transfer an installed game from one Xbox One console to another?

    If the disc drive is faulty then you may still have issues even with the game installed on an external drive.

    The disc still needs to be read to verify it when you first put the disc into the console.

    I've had faulty disc drives that would not play disc copies of games even though they were already installed.
