    I got a 4-digit tag I do not like, and I do not wish to delete my account, but I also cannot change it using a new gamertag unless I pay $10.

    There should be a feature that gives you free re-rolls to change your 4-digit tag.

    I just wanted to add to WPAK's explanation that the 4 digits after your gamertag denote the number of other people who have the same tag as you. The 4 digits show who you are specifically.

    In 2016 MS rolled out a policy that if a tag is not used for 5 years/logged into it will be cycled out. You have to wait till 2021.

    A gamertag can not be requested.

    If a gamertag is attached to a perma banned account that tag will not be recycled.

    The game has the Play Anywhere tag on it so if you bought it digitally then you should be able to use it on PC and Xbox. The license will be attached to your gamertag.

    When you set a gamertag from offline to online the system automatically changes the gamertag name for you. You do, however, get one free change of the tag. Follow the instructions at the link below to learn how to change the gamertag.

    If the tag is available you should be able to re-enter it for use.
