Re: Parental Control over Youtube App

Hi,

I have installed the Youtube application on my Xbox One.

Now I want to set up parental controls so that Youtube application can't be accessed. However, when I restrict access to installation of further apps, this doesn't extend to Youtube application.

Even if I uninstall it, it has already been downloaded so I can simply reinstall it again.

Is there any fix to this? I would like to avoid creating another account because there are other game downloads associated with the account which I'd like to keep.

Hi there.

Other than the standard parental controls there is no way to block a specific app outside of deleting the app all together. That wouldn't stop them from going and re-loading it though.

Have you tried setting up a Child account? You can attach it to your account and setup parental controls to block the youtube app. There are even time restrictions you can setup. More information at the link below, the MS Family account has Windows and
Xbox One controls.

To clarify, are you looking to restrict access to a single app using your Adult account? Or are you looking to restrict a single profile (Child account) from accessing apps unless they have a passcode. I understand you don't wish to create a new profile to
setup these preferences, so I'm just looking to clarify what you're looking to do exactly.

One thing to note, creating a new profile would not affect the current one in question in terms of downloads associated. Any purchases made on an account are tied to that profile and are shareable for the most part with any other profile on the console,
so long as the console is set as the "Home" console. The exception to this rule is micro transactions like in game currency since that's a one time use item. More info on that
