RCA to HDMI converter not working in xbox.

Hey guys, My satellite (Directv) is SD. This is why I bought an RCA to HDMI converter here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/Generic-AV2HDMI-Composite-Upscaling-Converter/dp/B00ENH847W , When I plug it directly in to my tv I get a picture (it displays 720/1080p
at 60hz), but when I connect it to the xbox one's HDMI in, I dont get any picture. It detects a signal, but only displays a black screen. I have heard that trying to use a game capture might block the signal, so I am wondering if the xbox thinks that the converter
box is a capture card which might make sense, does anybody have any ideas as to whag the issue could be?

That sounds line with what I have seen before. Can you form a control by using an HDMI to HDMI cable instead, to rule possibilities out?

 

Yes, I can with a device with an hdmi out, I tried hooking it up to my blueray player and had no issues. It is just the converter box, I believe that the signal is being blocked when plugged into the xbox by hdcp, so is there a way that I could try to override
this?

 

The only answer I can think of is changing the firmware of the converter box (I have never been able to log into one and change setting in these boxes (although it may be possible). Since AV and DVI does not authenticate like HDMI, my knee-jerk answer would
be no. I have had a series of bad luck with AV/HDMI converters (I have tried a few cheapies on my own out of curiosity). There is no place on the Xbox to remove the HDCP authentication table. Sorry to give you the bad news.

 

There isn't any hardware that can do this is there? I have seen some people using certain hdmi splitters that strip hdcp, could I run it through something like that, or is there something else that could work? I don't really know much about hdcp to be honest,
could you explain in more detail what it is and why it is blocking the signal?

Hmmm, quite a good question. The possibility exits but I personally would not be willing to gamble on it. If you have NO other choice; at all, no options: out by every other possibility. I would say buy it from a store with a good return policy just in case.

Yeah, the first thing that I linked should work. This is something that I would be willing to gamble a bit on, as the tv feature is the main reason why I chose the xbox one over ps4. It isn't that expensive.

 

I am staying in the gray area because I honestly don't know. Would you mind letting me know if this worked for you? I know folks that would be quite interested. It does have a money back, so at least you may end up ok in the worst case, so at least it is
not gambling much

I understand why this feature is so wanted. Although, the most launch titles was my selling point. Please do let me know if that worked, I am quite interested.

Just ordered one from the US with a good return policy (the first link) I will let you know the results. We're you having the same problem?

 

Not really other than testing, I run everything HDMI (audio S/PDIF). I had an issue like that, while testing other cabling. Just here to help.
