RARE ISSUE? Please read, I have a headache.

Before you say anything, yes I tried power cycling. Didn't help.

Anyways, I was having issues with Black Ops 3 today, lagging harder than ever (haven't lagged this bad since the beta), decided to go into my network details just to check on something and these were my results..

Download speed: 31.49 Mbps
Upload speed: 11.60 Mbps
Packet loss: 0%
MTU: 1480
Latency: 95ms
Wireless Strength: 0%
NAT Type: Open
Now I do not know about you guys, but to me, 0% strength with that type of speed does not make any sense to me.
I am able to play online (with lag), get into parties, talk to people (with some voice drops/ lags)
For me this was out of the ordinary, my strength was always between 93-100%, little to no lag, perfect voice conversations in party.

Now this unbearable lag started last night, very minimal, but hit me hard today.
A strange thing with this thing that my xbox is doing is that it will NOT allow me to press "Disconnect Wireless". the Wireless bars in the middle are all greyed out, (NAT: Open, All services are available) <- normal
Another weird thing is that it is before today I used to be able to change DNS, but now it just keeps reverting back to the ipv6 dns from my isp company.
And now the home tiles has the connect to xbox live sign, although I'm signed into my account with gold?

Despite the wireless strength being 0%, I was able to download my profile and do online things in mere seconds, but obvious I'm facing network issues.
Now my first reaction was to go to google, but for the first time ever, google didn't have the answers. So I went to Xbox support, after an hours worth of chatting on fixing this issue, she was even baffled by this weird error (that gave no error) and
resorted to tell me to factory reset, which is fine. I'm transferring to external harddrive and was going to do this as my last resort. So now as I wait for everything t transfer I'm just curious...
Does anyone know what the hell could've happened? Anyone went through this? Major headache.
Even worse when you're not 100% resetting will fix it

So yes, you did say that Donkey Kong was a Rare character.

 

You indicated that you power cycled the console. When you power cycled it did you remove the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes? Sometimes that will reset things and make the console function properly. Good Luck!

 

@texture: Genesis1953 is right. However in order to do the "correct" power cycle You will have to press the consoles' power button for at least 8-10 seconds. When it turns off, unplug the power of the console. Then head to your router. Unplug the power for
at least 5 minutes (as some router brands requires at least 5 minutes to completely do soft reset).

After 5 minutes, plug the power of your router, wait 2-3 minutes to stabilize the connection. Then plug the power back of your console. Turn it back on. When you're already on the home dashboard. wait 2 minutes to stabilize the connection.

Then check on your settings>network>network settings> check NAT, it should be still set to open. if yes,

Click Ip settings, select Manual. Configure your IP, make sure gateway and subnet will not be change. Then use 8.8.8.8 as DNS primary and 8.8.4.4 as secondary. Then Go to alternate Mac address and Hit clear!

Console will restart.

That's it, you should have no lagging problems now.

If your router is assigning ipv6, check router. Reset to factory default if needed. or contact isp for that reason.

I did unplug it for an hour at least while I went skating. Didn't do anything and my issues persisted. The support member made me clear my Mac as well, didn't work.

I woke up today after a factory reset, my download was boosted to 56 Mbps download on wireless which is crazy. Thanks for your help guys but only factory reset helped me out on this one

 

Thanks for posting back with your solution. Unfortunately, that is the resolution but we definitely want to hold off on that until it is absolutely necessary. Happy Gaming!
