If you redeemed a trial card with only days or weeks then that isn't actual full gold

It only offers temporary multiplayer access and non ranked matches

With destiny you need full gold to do coop or multiplayer functions including missions

Full memberships has mnonths or one year

You still can't level people up, no matter if you're rank 100, 200 or any other rank. All what you have to do to rank up is playing missions, doing heists and other stuff. Although the heist and missions are the best for money and rp.

Xp is for your rank. Lion coins are to buy aircraft for use in multiplayer. You dont get any lioncoins in campaign modes and as you said the mission editor, looks like you can only recieve them for multiplayer and dynamic campaign, which seems a little stingy.
In campaign you dont have a choice with regards to which aircraft you use.

You can do them solo. Just play the level before hand with Spectre to find and remember where all the data items are. Then play on pro with Lupo with max passive abilities and incendiary rounds. (I'm doing this now and so far so good)
