Randomly disconnecting from XBL

    Randomly disconnecting from XBL


    So for the past week I've been randomly getting disconnected from Xbox live multiple times a day. Usually this would only happen once or twice a week. At first I thought it was the game I was playing (For Honor, with its horrible servers) causing it to happen,
    but it happens with every game. Any ideas why this is happening?

    every hour or so i will get disconnected from XBL and im able to sign back in instantly after its really getting annoying i cant find no solution PLEASE HELP!!!

    Randomly disconnecting from XBL

    It might be an issue with the way your connection is set. Try to reset your router and modem, as that might be causing issues. If it is disconnecting as much as you say it is, it may be an issue with your ISP.

    Yeah I tried resetting my router, but with no luck. Ive tried basically everything lol Im tempted to just factory reset and see if that works....

    Wired XBL connection with Verizon FiOS

    Update:

    I upped the MTU on my router to 1600. XBL still randomly disconnects. Immediately after disconnect I can reconnect to XBL.

    Please help!

    How long have you had your router and your modem. I had a 6 year old Arris modem and it started dropping every game I played on Reach. I replaced it with a brand new Motorola modem and all my problems went away. Speed tests are only for short periods.
    I'd suggest opening up command prompt and pinging a website like google for a long time. See if you get inconsistent results like several timed out requests or unusally high return times. Use this command

    ping www.google.com -t
