Random disconnects

Hello!

I have had some problems with connection with my Xbox One for about a month now. It started when I was in a party chat with my friends and suddenly I couldn't hear anything. When I go and check the party, there's a grey text under my Gamertag that says Connecting...
After ten seconds or so I could get the notfication in the bottom of my screen that says Party chat has disconnected (not quite sure about if that's exactly written like that since my Xbox is in Finnish so I don't know what it says in English but I think you
get the point). After this, I have always left the party and I have had to wait about a minute or two/or join and leave the party about 4 times until I can hear others talking again. This could happen anywhere between 10 minutes to several hours. Skype works
perfectly though and the calls don't disconnect at any point. It should also be noted that I don't lose connection to Xbox One Live at any point even though the party chat gets disconnected.

Recently I have played a lot of Call of Duty: Black Ops on Xbox One and there I disconnect also randomly. I just get the black screen and after that it says that I have lost connection to Black Ops servers and Xbox Live. About 30 seconds later, I am able
to get back to Live. I tried playing Black Ops on 360 as well but same happened in the very first match. I also noticed a weird detail that might help or not but sometimes I could see that I'm going to disconnect in the space of 15 seconds when I changed my
classes and under every equipment/weapon/perk I see an orange mark and instead of the name of the weapon etc. it just says "Select Equipment". Again, Skype on One works well but I lose the connection to 360 Live. I also tired wireless with the router but
the connection is just shaky because I think the router kind of far away. I also tried using my mobile phone's internet and it worked last week very well but today it started doing to same as the wireless connection to my router: just disconnecting every 10
minutes or so and being shaky overall.

When I play FIFA 16 Ultimate Team, I also randomly disconnect from matches. The game shows the spinning wheel on the bottom of my screen and after that the game just ends and takes my players' contracts but gives no result of the game (so it shows that the
match was never even played). What's the weird thing is that I have no problems when I'm playing Pro Clubs. The games do not disconnect then but the party disconnections still happen. And the same thing applies to EASHL which is NHL's equivalent to FIFA's
Pro Clubs.

I'm fairly certain that the problem is in my internet/router but I have no idea what to do and what's safe to do. I don't know if I should port forward or what. I have reseted my router and tried different ports on it. My NAT Type has always been Open. The
annoying thing with this that these disconnects happen so randomly that it's hard to test what works and what doesn't. I have been trying different games, I have even played Advanced Warfare which I absolutely hate, just to see what kind of error it gives
me so I can continue research with Google but so far it hasn't disconnected once in like two hours of gameplay.

Wired or Wireless (for each console): Wired for both One and 360, I have also tried Wireless.

Things you have tried: Reset modem, reset router

Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/No/Unknown: Yes

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?: NAT Type has always been Open.

Any Error Codes you encounter: The party chat disconnection might have had one but can't remember that since I haven't been in parties for a week or so.

Who is your ISP? (Internet Service Provider): Sonera

I see that you are having issues with disconnection on the Xbox One, which sounds more like a network issue.

Troubleshoot for Xbox One

Go to Network Settings>Advanced Settings

Change the Primary DNS to 8.8.8.8

Change the Secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4

Once you have changed the settings, then unplug your modem for one minute and plug it back in. Also, restart the console.

I tried the things you said and after that I tried playing Black Ops but I disconnected in my second game, so it didn't help.

Anything else you guys can suggest?

 

haven't heard of that router but since it is a "gateway" I'm suspicious of it.....can you try and make a wifi hotspot with your phone and test it that way ?

Yes, I have tried using my phone's internet for playing online (I guess that's what making wifi hotspot with my phone means, correct me if I'm wrong) as I briefly mentioned in the opening post. It worked very well for a few days last week but yesterday I
started losing connection every 5 minutes using it. Today I tried it again and the same happened. I think that's because I heard mobile connections aren't

very stable overall (even though it worked well last week). Using phone for online gaming isn't a long-term solution anyway since I would have to charge the battery too often.

 

no , the phone was just to test with to see if it improved or stayed the same......do you have access to a different network ? friend or family member perhaps ?

Hello again!

I think I may have managed to fix the problem. First, I tried enabling DMZ for a moment to test it out and I didn't disconnect from any games that time. After that I port forwarded the thing with the help of portforward.com and it has worked well since that.
I'm not 100% sure if the problem is fixed or have I just been lucky not to disconnect but at the moment it seems there's no problem anymore.

usually , UPNP can handle the traffic , but some routers don't do it very well , maybe yours is one of them.....glad you got it , lets hope it stays....
