Random disconnection from xbox live while in game (Xbox 1)

@smiles, what makes you think its best to use a router supplied by the ISP? Also no connection should have a predictable discontent, because they should be the easy ones to fix. He's not asking for 100% uptime he asking for no predicatble disconnect. All
the issues you have mention can have counters put in place to ensure it doesn't happen.

If you use the router provided by your ISP, if you have technical issues, your ISP will provide the solution straight away if you use a router provided by them.

If you use a 3rd party router, if you need technical support and contact your ISP, your ISP will only refer you to your 3rd party router's manufacturer, and it can be a hassle dealing with router manufacturers for support. Where as with your ISP, just contact
them.

New Zealand ISP's recommend using routers by your ISP for this very matter. Though everyone is welcome to go buy another router.

That is a best reason, why to use a router by your ISP. Vodafone is a big company and their router is fine. But everyone has different experiences.

 

And also Vodafone and Spark NZ (another NZ ISP major company) imply to use THEIR (aka your ISP's) Routers, because THOSE routers have already been tweeked to work best with the network which your ISP runs.

 

@Smiles, that doesn't make it the best, the best is the one excels at doing the job you want, and while in most cases it will do the job at a degree the average consumer will be happy with, it will never be the best and certainly won't suit everyone.

Don't believe everything an ISP tells you, they are into marketing just as much as the next company.

 

OK Guys, what can I say! It seems like I’m up and running, as to whether there’s going to be anymore drama is anyone’s guess.

So this is what’s been going on and just so you know, I have no idea what seems to have sorted this issue out.

I came home from work on Monday, that would be the twenty fifth. As I came into the road leading to my street I noticed a virgin media Van parked at the side of the road, the guy was busying himself in the street box, he was surrounded by what looked like
lengths of cables… So I get home and check my internet, nothing no connection not a blip. I decide to have a walk back to where the Virgin guy was working, it’s only a hundred metres or so away from my house, thinking I’ll find out what he’s up to. When I
turn the corner, he’s gone! No more than twenty minutes had passed since I passed him while driving home! So I head back to the house.

After arriving home my mobile rings, it’s my friend who I’d been trying to contact earlier about my connection issue, he’s on his way over with his Xbox One, Yeah!

Right so, we set his console up ( internet is up and running) and after an hour he’s still connected, so far so good! Two hours later he’s still connected. By seven Pm ( almost four hours later and still connected) he has to go but before he does go, he
sets my console back up then goes into settings-network settings-detailed network settings then presses ‘A’ on the controller then right away holds down LB-LT, RB-RT while pressing down on the toggle sticks ( apparently he was told to do this by Microsoft
when he was having issues) while the console cycles. When the console has finished cycling he let go of the controller and pulled the power lead out from the back of the Xbox , He then pressed the console power button at the front of the Xbox several times,
then unplugged the power brick from the wall socket. While the power brick was de-charging he re-set my router back to factory settings

( Virgin Media super Hub ) with a cocktail stick!? Then he switched that off too. After a couple of minutes he turned the router back on, we waited for it to connect back to the net then he plugged the power brick back into the wall socket and switched it
on, once the colour of the light changed he plugged it back into the Xbox, then powered that up by the front power touch button. So we were back on! My friend said “well that’s all I can think of to do”

“C-ya later hope it stays connected”, Lol yeah right. So off he went.

Well guys something seems to have worked and I’m not entirely sure what ? Or how long it’s going to last for. I’ve had a good few hours on and no disconnections!? Was it the Virgin guy at the end of the road? Or was it what my friend has done? Or the threat
of sending it back :-/ Lol, I just don’t know! I’ll give it a couple of days to see how it goes before I breath a sigh of relief. Or post off my console to Microsoft.

So that’s it! I’m just sorry I can’t pin point what has sorted this out, For now at least anyway! :-/

Monday 25th, 2 hrs 30 min. No disconnection

Tuesday 26th, 3 hrs 40 min. No disconnection

Wednesday 27th, 5 hrs 0 min. No disconnection

Thursday 28th, 4 hrs 30 min. No disconnection

Friday 29th, 4 hrs 10 min. No disconnection

So Toady I've been on since 11.45 am and still going.... The strangest thing about all this is, I contacted Virgin, my ISP and they said there was no scheduled maintenance due in my area? So the mind boggles.

My friend is like " merrrr, I knew I could sort it" :-/ maybe he did?

I've contacted Microsoft to cancel my inspection /repair slot, for now!

So I'll just soldier on until it decides to **** up again!

Oh and one more thing!
