Random account on brand new Xbox One S

I just got a brand new Xbox One S from Target today. Packaging was not damaged or anything, everything was brand new and packaged perfectly. I turned it on, set it up and even played a game. Worked fine, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Then I tried to
download a game and it said it needed to ask permission. I thought that was weird so I went to the settings to try to change it and I went to account > family settings > manage family members and it had some random account on it. Never heard of the gamertag.
I clicked on it to see if I could delete it or see more about it and it just said i could not change their settings. I thought maybe i accidentally bought a used or refurbished one or something but there are no indications that I did, and I don’t think Target even
sells used xboxes.

What's you're scariest/creepiest momments while playing on Xbox Live or PSN?

There was like 3-4 random people to message me saying they knew me, and the spiel was always that they were lonely 21-23 year old girls who want to talk....one said they play The Witness, yet their account was brand new, and told shim it was whack that they'd make a brand new account and first thing they do is message me.

Cannot Sign In To My Account

Yeah I had to do this "awesome" process just to get my account to load on a brand new Xbox One S. From Xbox 360 to now the same account error code is alive and well.

It might be that your account is a child account, and the random account you see on that console is the parent account that is associated with your child account.

Ask your parent to sign in on Xbox | Games and Entertainment on All Your Devices and check their Gamertag on the Xbox website in the upper right.

It should match the random account you see on the console.

While your parents are signed in, you can ask them to go to
https://account.xbox.com/settings and make the changes to your account to allow you to download the game, if necessary.

To go along with the other post to see if your account is in a family you can sign in at account.microsoft.com/family and it will tell you if your account is in a family and if it is a child in the family or not.

You are given a random gamertag to start with and one free change that must be used with 90 days of the account creation.
