Rainbow Six: Siege Closed Beta Coming to Consoles Later This Year

Well it's about time. One of my friends woke me up with a text about it because we've been chomping at the bit for so long. I know that at least half my friends list will be playing it.

 

Bird, thanks for the new footage! ...although, I gotta say, the guy you watch in the very 1st round is a moron - you can clearly hear a barricade breaking behind him moments before he gets shot in the back... *SMH*

 

Does anybody else find it strange that these discussion take place here and not in the specific forum? The Siege forum has one thread and the last post was made in June of last year. To me it just highlights how much these forums need a redesign. Those
that are left basically just come here for interaction. Use to not be that way.

 

The minimum specs for the PC alpha is what I'm currently;y running on PC lol. Time for an upgrade? Anyway I'm looking forward to playing it on Xbox later this year as well. Rainbow Six: Siege will take the franchise into a competely new direction compared
to the older titles.

The game looks like a snoozer. I'll happily pass on anything made by Ubisoft.

I couldn't agree more. I love teamwork and tactics. It's so much better than what I've seen in CoD and others. My friends and I would methodically work our way through maps in rainbow and talk about life. To me, gaming doesn't get much better than that.

 

It doesn't matter what kind of shooter it is whether it be Rainbow Six, Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Unreal Tournament, Timesplitters, Perfect Dark, 007, etc. If it has teams, it has teamwork and tactics. It might be a bit different, but
there are A LOT of concepts that you can use regardless (such as concentrated fire, cover fire, watching separate angles to cover more ground, map knowledge, knowing how to communicate effectively, flanking, ambushing, cover, concealment, and so on... All
of which are real-world tactics. It can be a realistic shooter or a twitch shooter; it doesn't matter - these are all things you can effectively do in a shooter with a team and I, for one, do. It's for this reason I have to shake my head every time I hear
someone say something along the lines of "well there is no strategy in CoD" because I know for a FACT that they are dead wrong and it's also that mentality that probably gets them killed in those games in the 1st place. Sure, they may be faster, but teamwork
and strategy is all still there. It's all just a matter of how well YOU work with your team.

 

What I mean is that it's more methodical and stealthy, similar to Splinter Cell, if you choose to play it that way. gg if you are referring to my CoD comment, I didn't say "well there is no strategy in CoD", so feel free to re-read since it's right above
your post. I played through CoD MW 1 & 2 and quite a bit of the multiplayer because my friend kept bugging me to do it, so I'm just expressing my opinion. There's a distinct difference.

People that ran around in Vegas got absolutely destroyed - That's why i love these games, sorts the shooters from the scrubs that the CoD generation has born

 

Yeah...my friends that played CoD were dropping like flies in Vegas. Loved it!

 

Different pacing in Rainbow Six compared to COD. You can run and gun in Rainbow Six but it's not the smartest thing to do. Whereas in Call Of Duty in most of the modes except CTF or S&D it's encouraged.
