Railgun Regneration Challenge...

Treat it as if it's a sniper rifle for your Titan.

 

Finally slogged through this challenge... while I have learned the best way to get Dooms with this weapon, it was torture... it reduced my enjoyment of the game massively... glad I stuck it out and finished it though... after I was done I reset my Titan
loadouts to other weapons and actually had fun running and gunning with my Titans again! Hopefully I won't have to use this thing again until Regen 9...

 

To respond to my previous post, I just finished with the second Plasma Railgun challenge, which required 50 critical hits. The good thing about this challenge is it makes you focus on the weapons strength, which in turn makes it feel more powerful. This
challenge was also slow going until you get insta-shot, and at that point it picks up considerably. I was actually able to win a few 1v1 close quarter fights. Though I don't hate this weapon as much as I did during the doom challenge, I still find this to
be by far the least fun titan weapon to use.

 

Really? ^ I thought the least favorite (for me at least) was the damn Arc Cannon, It sucks so bad IMHO. The only way I made it through that challenge was with the Big Punch, Cluster Missiles, and the Electric Smoke. The only thing that makes this weapon
useable against Titans is when you get the capacitor, but then you HAVE to fully charge it or it won't fire

 

I wasn't a fan of the capacitor attachment. Though neither were overflowing in the fun department, I found the arc cannon more enjoyable for a couple reasons. Minion hunting with the arc cannon never gets old. And the arc cannon needs no reload. Bonus points
for it being an AoE weapon as well.

But in the end, these are two weapons that I will very rarely use again.

 

I HATE this gun. Hate it. It has stalled my level grinding and that is pretty much the only thing that keeps my OCD self playing shooters. I hate being stuck "Wasting" XP while struggling with it. 29/50 after hooooooooooooooours of trying. May as well
be 29/500.

Do you have the quick fire mod yet?

 

Got it Xeno. Seems only marginally better. Mag is too short. The only way to really be effective is to perpetrate a double team or triple team vulturing.

I used the following loadout for this challenge:

Ogre, Electric smoke, multi target missiles, titan punch, the rest is up to you...

Run up, hit electric smoke, titan punch, when they back up, use multi target missiles one at a time (just keep pulling the trigger, don't do a multiple lock on) until their health is right down... Then quickly use the Plasma Gun with the quick fire mod firing
as fast as possible on critical hit points if possible.

Now, this is good for 1 on 1 and if you have your shield core ready too. Look for auto titans, you get more chances when playing the "campaign"... LTS is more of a sit back and wait mode... I had a bit of trouble too, but try one tactic for a while to perfect
it, and if you can't get it with that approach, try something else.

Try finding a titan with low energy bar use electric smoke to take shield off or cluster missiles then use plasma railgun as long as energy bar just in yellow before using plasma railgun and you can make it go into doomed state it will count as a kill best
on orges thay have a large critical hit spot on the back just hit that if you can hope it helps.

 

Thanks Xeno. I was working with a similar build. I was using the atlas for quicker movement and the extra dash. Maybe I need to switch it to the Ogre...

Never thought about the campaign. How are there more auto titans there? Isn't it just MP with a few cut scenes?

Yes, the campaign is still MP, but there tend to be more titan drops over the course of the game, and I've just noticed that there seem to be more players that leave their titans to run around there. That's where I do most of my challenges for titans as
LTS is too hard as everyone is going for the same one as you.

one word instant shot the first 10 kills suck getting but after that it should be easy with the right set up

 

Campaign tends to have more new payers. You can get a bunch of newer players that don't know how to use a Titan yet, so the put it on Auto and that are easier to take down. To get through the challenge you have to steal kills. Fully charged it does major
damage so use it like a sniper.

Yes, it does more damage fully charged... But you have to get your timing right to get the kill. Three shots with the quick fire mod is equal to that one, if not better... And you triple your chance of getting the critical shot in...

But that's just my take. If fully charged shots work for you, then go with it.
