Railgun Regneration Challenge...

Struggled with this weapon all day... seems weak, pointless... cannot win a single one on one battle with another Titan... doesn't seem worth the effort... makes me annoyed with the game for making me use this thing...

Titanfall regeneration requirements are bs

I just done this challenge on Gen 4

I equipped one shop strike on the Railgun helped alot

 

One of the worst weapons in the game, in my opinion. How did I complete the challenge? Basically steal Titan kills from my teammates. It's ruthless, but you sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. A friend of mine also helped me with this, and would let
me get the final hit on an enemy Titan.

 

Yes and no on the "weak, pointless..." comment. It seems weak and pointless but when used properly is the opposite. I tend to me more of the button masher, quick trigger type so this weapon was so far from what I prefer, but like Doc said, you might have
to steal kills. I wish I could recommend a certain game mode for it but none really stands out as better. Youd think LTS would be but it isn't because youre competing against 3-5 other mechs. You'll be much better off once you get the One Shot mod, if you
don't already. lets you fired precharged rounds. I used that in combination with the strider got me thru the challenge. Stick to the edge of the maps if you can for charged shots and quick shots when F2F. Bob n weave

 

This was by far the worst challenge so far. At the time I felt it was the worst gun I've ever used in a game. In retrospect it's more due to the difficulty in actually dooming people, and at the time two friends were working it too. It really is just a Titan
sniper rifle, and sniping in this game is not fun. However, I hate going against people using this gun, at least in LTS, as I run a Stryder, and a one hit from that railgun, and the inevitable pilot with charge rifle doesn't go well.

SPOILER ALERT I hear Gen 9 has you use the railgun again for critical hits. I'm looking forward for this challenge, as I think this will show that the weapon actually has a use. That use just doesn't appear to be dooming titans.

 

^^thats how I see it too. The gun does massive damage when fully charged and decent when only slightly charged. It's the slow rate of fire and the tiny clip that makes the weapon so damn hard to doom titans. I ran into a lot of auto titans and stole 10 or
so Dooms. I actually started to like the gun but I hated the challenge.

 

Its actually one of my favorite Titan weapons. If used properly it's VERY DEADLY, what I do is use the Stryder with Big Punch, Electric Smoke, and the Cluster Missiles, and the Instant Shot Railgun. What you do is first (If you can sneak up and big punch
them once in the back or) run up on them and shoot them once while dashing forward, when you get right up on them hit the smoke and let them fry for a second or 2 then almost immediately hit them with the Big Punch or 2 to knock them and then lay into them
with the cluster missiles as there dashing backwards. By then their shield and the biggest chunk of their life is gone and all you need to do now is shoot them until they die (don't forget to bob and weave or you'll die too), you should still have 3-4 rounds
with the Railgun so you shouldn't even have to reload. Note this strategy works best in one on one situations not in multiple TvT battles

 

This challenge is ruining my enjoyment of the game... played for roughly three hours over the last two days, mostly Attrition... scored tons of assists, but only two Dooms... it's simply a crap shoot to Doom a Titan with this thing... the trouble with the
class described above is that it's an advanced class... many things earned through experience... when only using the Railgun, it's slow, slow slow to get that experience and those unlocks... many times I have been fighting with a Titan only to have the kill
taken by someone else... frustrating... at this rate I will have to spend roughly 30 more hours being poo'd on by other players until I get lucky enough to hit a weak Titan just at the right time... seriously may go back to COD before that...

 

You'll have to deal with it again when you're at gen 9, but for critical hits instead of kills. Either way, yeah, i can't like this weapon.

 

Once you get through this challenge the next is Quad Rockets.

 

I am probably just giving up on the whole concept of Regeneration in Titanfall, which is a shame since I have reached 10 in each of the last 4 COD titles... forcing players to handicap themselves for 20 to 100 hours by making them use an inferior weapon
is lame... the Railgun is outclassed by every other weapon on the battlefield... getting a Doom with the Railgun is more luck than anything... if the challenge was get 100 support kills I'd understand... but getting your own Titan kills with this weapon in
a hectic environment is next to impossible... if they had saved this for Regen 8, 9, whatever, I would understand... forcing a player to handicap themselves for so long at a low level was just bad game planning... it appears I will be Regen 3 for the duration
of the game...

 

The railgun challenge is very easy play capture the flag and a lot of people i come across use auto titans and easy kills. You can also play last titan standing and stick in a group ans get the last few shots on a titan.

 

@Relentless the challenge is annoying but very possible, just stay patient and take advantage of Auto Titans. If you can Doom one Titan a match you'll get it in a few days.

This is more or less (ordnance may be different sometime) what I do and you are right, it will certainly take a chunk of life, leaving them open to a few zaps for the kill.
