Radio signal coming in through mic input

Would they work in my setup? Sound output through TV, mic input through xbox?

In the Astro 50 what is transporting the mic input, is it the usb?

Those signals come from different places. The game audio is separate from chat, especially the mic. The inbound sound from your party can be routed to the speakers, or the headset, from the console it's self but the mic's input go through the wireless
protocol that the game controller uses. The One uses a different variation of that wireless protocol that's how they have shortened the latency of the wireless controllers. The warhead 2 wireless radios one streams the games sounds and inbound chat much
like every other gaming headset for the 360 and another radio that communicates directly with the 360's wireless chat (out bound mic) audio. so what happens is you get the sound from the 360 audio out into the warhead, that then sends it to you headphone.
The mice on the headset sends, your voice directly to the 360 internal wireless receiver. It's doubtful that MS is using hardware flexible enough to support that older and newer protocol as that would cost more and potentially cannibalize potential sails
of 100% wireless headsets for the One. The deal with Tritton was most likely limited to the 360 and no future consoles, if they patched the system to work, Tritton could just re-label the box as One compatible and not pay Microsoft anything.

Bah. I hope this is just a software issue which can be fixed via patch.

Does anyone know how the sound is streamed to controller? Is it optical and through Kinect (I had disconnect my Kinect a while back and the OEM headset stopped working) or does the signal come through the wireless radio?

I would check the HDMI cable (assuming that is what you are using). The controller a lot of times won't connect until the signal comes through. Also you could make sure you are using the correct input on your tv.

It is technically not a Pass Through. It is an Input. This allows the Xbox to play TV, or whatever you input, on top of the Xbox One OS. A real passthrough would not allow you to view both the X1 content and conected device content at the same time.

The draw back of an input is that the X1 needs to process the input. It's not a hard wired signal that passes through and out to the TV. This means that the X1 needs to be powered on. it also means that the X1 will take some time to process the input signal.
Because of this, it does not work to pass a game console or through it because there will be a lag.
