Quick question please help if you can!

Quick question, I have an Xbox one chat adapter that i was using with my Triton headset, it was working perfectly one night until i stepped away just long enough for my controller to turn itself off. It has done it before and no problems, but this
time after the controller turned itself off. When i returned to turn it back on and resume playing. My chat adapter wouldn't turn back on.. i even tried different stereo headsets and nothing. i even tested all my headsets on my phone to see if maybe my headset
died and nothing. the adapter just suddenly stoped working? i've had the adapter since day one. Nov 22 2013, and yes i have tried updating my controller and i keep getting "No update needed". Can anyone help if possible or do i need to buy a new adapter.

If you do not wish to use the Kinect sensor then you can certainly unplug it and use the console as is.

 

this has happened to me twice, first time was resolved by unplugging the adapter and plugging it back in, and then the most recent time i had to do a actual reboot of my X1.

 

I've done that too, unplugged and plugged it back in couple hundred times and i've cleared my cache too

 

but have you done a actual reboot so it is completely powered down and takes a few minutes to boot back up?

more detail, the first time this happened, in the party window it still showed the little circle that goes bold when someone is talking, but my circle wouldn't light up and no one could hear me, unplugging the adapter fixed that. this last time it didn't
even show the circle and i couldn't hear anything, unplugging it didn't help, but holding the power button on the X1 to force a reboot did fix it.

so i just wanted to be clear, if clearing cache meant you rebooted the X1, or just quit the apps, or just went into instant on mode or what.

edit: if you have friend that are local, maybe take it to their house and test on their X1.

 

Have had the issue before as well the first time I did what Zero Divided said, a full reboot(hold the power button down for a few second if your console is set to instant on). It happened again yesterday but I just stuck my chat adapter into another controller
and it worked fine. I'll switch it back and see what happens tonight.

 

i did a proper Cache reset where you hold the power button on the console untill the power brick light goes orange

 

if you hold down the power button... the power brick light should not go out unless you unplug it. The light in the brick should be white or orange/red.

Hold it down... wait till it shuts down.. unplug it for about 3 minutes... reverse...

see if that works

 

Sounds like you have a bad adaptor in that case

 

i don't think it could be a bad one.. ive been using that adapter for over a year. as i mentioned. it was working 100% before my controller turned itself off.

 

If you have another controller try it on another if you haven't already, it might have gone out for real. The one I have that went out yesterday is working fine again after a hard reset.
