Quick question about changing mail addresses/alias

I just recently changed my email address and alias (and removed the old email address that I used for live years ago on 360) for my Xbox one S system I just bought. When I go to redeem an Xbox live code or a new game code though it says the code will be
redeemed to the previous email address instead of my new one.

Should I wait it out or am I safe to just redeem the membership sub and the game code?

Hi Tyler,

Did you redeem the code before you change your email address? If you just change your email address you should have whatever you code you redeem on your account. You can try restarting your Xbox by holding the power button on your Xbox for 10 seconds.
See if that works!

Now just to be clear you just change the email on your account and didnt create a brand new account?

Hey, Ya, I just changed my email address & didn't make a new account.

I redeemed 2k19 and it is downloading as we speak so I think I am in the clear. Thanks!

Do you recognize the e-mail? Is it a "new-to-you" console or one that was pre-owned? If it is an old e-mail of yours you can update your Microsoft account at account.live.com and change your e-mail address or alias to reflect the correct e-mail address
you would like.

You inadvertently created two accounts. I see this happen to people all the time. Follow these steps:

1) Go to http://www.account.live.com

2) Sign-In with the old email address and password that you had previously for your gamertag.

3) Click the link underneath your primary alias that says "add or change alias".

4) Add or Create a new e-mail address for the account.

5) Set the new e-mail address as primary once you verify it.

***Note: You will not be able to use the NEW email that you created because it is an outlook.com e-mail. Typically, you can remove the new e-mail address from the new account and add it to the old account, however, removing a Microsoft e-mail address as
the primary e-mail alias on a Microsoft Account will disable that e-mail address.***
