Quick question about automatic game updates...

So I'm curious about the automatic game updates while the system is on standby in "Instant On" mode. I know that if you try to download the update when launching the game and you eject the disk the update won't download. This is where I get confused.
If there isn't a disk in the drive when the system checks for updates on standby, will it still download the update and complete it once you insert the disk? Or do you have to be psychic and know when the game is going to have an update? Sounds confusing I
know.

whatever game is installed will download the updates automatically, it will then appear in the games menu with a star in the corner and installation stopped will show, when you put the disc in it will finalise the last 1% and the game should be ready to
play straight away.

I thought they updated on their own if you have it set up right. Either that's the case or none of my games ever have an update.

I believe the updates while in "Instant On" mode only apply to the console updates not game updates.

Game updates will download and apply themselves when you next load the game in question. If it auto applied updates to games I think there would be a big uproar due to the size of some updates like DR3's 13Gb update.

The DR3 update downloaded overnight for me without the disc in there so yes game updates are done automatically too. It seems that the auto-update system is a little finicky still however. I usually get the auto-updates but every once in a while I won't.
(I had to manually download the Blu-Ray app update the other day.)

Most updates I have seen so far are mainly replacing a lot of files and adding only a few GB....because of this I am prompted to begin playing very early into the update and then can play while the update continues.

I'm pretty sure my 13 gb Dr3 updated by itself and finalized when I put my disc in.

As I am aware of the most recent update I put the game in for dlc play and never sat through an update. I just installed dlc and played!

Well I'm just curious if it will download the patch and then finalize it once the disk is installed. Waiting for a 13GB download sucks when it could be downloading while I'm at work or something lol.
