    Quick game resume not working after last update


    After last update (I guess, since now console updates are automatic), let's say since more or less 10 days, the quick resume function isn't working anymore on most games.

    I use the quick power option, meaning the console turn on immediately and the stanby is soft.

    Well, now games like Forza Horizon 2, Diablo 3 and other, that were supported by quick resume, now all launch from start every time I power on the console.

    This means I can't quit sessions halfway in my games as they're resetted after every restart.

    Some other games, like Shadow of Mordor for example, still work, thu.

    Can you help me, please?

    Xbox one stuck on "please reconnect controller"

    Same problem here. Easy fix (workaround) take battery out of controller and put it back in. This happened after recent March update along with quick resume not working anymore.

    Instant on, game resume

    The resume quickly feature has been broken for me as well since the March update. I only have one game -- Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. I also have limited time to play it -- 15 minutes here, 30 there, and that quick resume was a life saver! Now that
    it's gone, I'm quite irritated.

    I used to look forward to system updates on the Xbox 360. So far on the Xbox One, updates are something I worry about when they are announced. It's like "What's going to break this time?" Seriously, the previous update broke my ability to say "Yes" after
    saying "Xbox Turn Off". Now that feature is working again but I can't resume my game in progress. Ugh.

    No, sorry Misses Quinzel, I'm not part of the preview (too bad, I'd like to be in that program, thu)

    I just guessed I got an automatic update because until (about) 10 days ago the quick game resume worked for all games and now it only work on "shadow of Mordor" (that's the only game I've on physical support).

    I've tried almost everything with online support, even deleting my profile, restoring console to defaults (loosing all my games) but it didn't solve the problem.

  6. My apologies, lock! I talked with the preview team, and it does seem that you should not have been in there. I've moved you back to general support.

    By physical support, do you mean that's the only game you have as a disc? Would you be willing to set your console in Energy Saving mode for a few days and then switch it back to Instant On? If you are, let me know how that works for you. Quick game resume not working after last update :)

    Xbox One Operating System version
    is and post back what you have, please? This will help us narrow down any issues we may run into. :3

    Yes Misses Quinzel, that's the only game I've on disk, so it could be a coincidence, but I can't verify further.

    Of course I can try that (edit: switching to power save mode), even if I don't have many hopes as, with technical support they made me try every possible action (even reflashing the firmware and reset all settings with the USB key app).

    My current version is the last one, and you can see it here, along with other info (in italian language but I guess the elements position is the same):

    A curious things is the date of the last update, as it refers to an Assassin's Creed like era, where the electric power wasn't invented yet. So it could be a space-time science fiction issue. Quick game resume not working after last update ;)

    But tech support confirmed that other users reported that too, so I still think it's a software little problem.

    Beside that every other function of console works perfectly.

    Thanks also for the explanation about removing me from the Preview forum, I wasn't able to access anymore and I had a panic moment.

    By the way, is it possible to apply there somehow? I know invitation emails are sent randomly but I'd really like to see if I could solve my problem that way (confirming this one is related to this update).

    Then, of course, I'll give my contribution reporting any issue with beta updates.

    Thank you so much for that image of your OS. That does help a lot, and it is definitely in the same spot. This also confirms for me that you are not currently in the preview program. Quick game resume not working after last update :)

    There is no way to apply to the preview program, however you can still be invited to it again. You will need to have a friend or someone in the preview program to invite you, and that should start the process over again.

    Since it's been a few days, with the Instant On off, have you switched it back and then tried the disc game to see if quick resume works? Please post back and let me know if it worked for you. :3

    but when I switched back to instant on the behavior didn't change. Quick game resume not working after last update :(

    Well, about Preview I've a friend that (said he) invited me, but so far I didn't received anything. How's the procedure? He invites me and I apply somewhere or he reports my gamertag somewhere and then I get contacted by Preview program?

  10. The procedure is basically the second suggestion you made. Your gamertag goes through an investigation, and then the team will send you another invite. The time it takes varies on how many "invites" they have received recently. Quick game resume not working after last update :)

    I'm sorry to see that the switch didn't work. You mentioned that you've spoke with tech support. Can you post what all you have tried with them so that I don't ask you to do troubleshooting a second time?

    You know what? Today it seems working. It didn't the first 2-3 times after I switched back to quick start but now it's doing. Quick game resume not working after last update :)

    I also realized I had some Internet issues in the last 10 days or so and I'm starting to think these two things could be related. I excluded a connection in the first place because I don't see why a web connection should be related to game suspend mode but
    who knows (well, there's still the mistery about Shadow of Mordor that always worked).

    Anyway I think (and hope) that problem is solved now, many help for your help. Quick game resume not working after last update :)

    I'm so sorry to see that didn't help you, lock!

    So we can see what other options we have for you, could you please post up what troubleshooting steps you've done with a support tech? I don't want to have you do the same troubleshooting steps twice if we can avoid it. Quick game resume not working after last update :)

    Here's what I already tried (on suggestion from phone support):

    - Remove profile and add it again.

    - Delete one game and reinstall it.

    - Restore system settings.

    - Force last firmware flash via USB

    - Restore system settings via USB firmware.

    - Reinstall all games from scratch.

    So I guess I tried almost everything. I want to point to the fact that this problem appeared in the last month, before everything was perfect.

  15. Thanks for clarifying, lock! Those are things I definitely would have asked you to do again, and wouldn't have wanted to go through them again. Quick game resume not working after last update :)

    My last suggestions would be:

    • Try quick resume with your profile and one of your games on another console, if you can.
    • Try this with your console, but on another internet provider.
    Outside of that, the last thing I can think of doing is setting up a repair through our
    Online Service Center. While that seems a bit extreme, it would be the last step we took to ensure there isn't anything wrong with your console in general.
