  1. Questions over Backwards Compatibility

While I am ecstatic that Backwards Compatibility is coming to the Xbox One, I still have a few of questions that I need answers to. Keep in mind, I have not seen the conference so I don't know if the presenter mentioned the following questions or not.

    1) Are the games available for emulation going to be limited to ones that did well in sales like Halo Reach, or will I be able to pop in the disc to a less popular game like Armored Core 5 and play it as soon as the BC software is made available this holiday?

    2) Will there be a way to transfer save data and DLC from 360 over to the One without having to re-buy it all?

    3) (And probably the least likely) Will I be able to play the 360 version of a game that is also available on the One, like Destiny, or will I have to buy the One version of the the game?

    :)

    backwards compatibility and Xbox Live

Question about backwards compatibility I get my xbox one Xbox Live through another account because its home Xbox is my xbox, thus I get xbox live. Will I still have the xbox live on the 360 emulator when I use backwards compatibility?

    Questions over Backwards Compatibility

As far as number 1 goes, they said that all a dev has to do for the game to be backwards compatible is to tell MS. So if the devs/pubs of Armored Core want it to be, it will. No clue about the rest.

    3. Not even sure why you think this would be possible. Activision is going to want that extra $60.

  6. Hence why I said, it wouldn't be likely.

    it will work like this...

insert 360 game disc into the XB1, install game.. play ganme

    or

Open your games library and see all the digital 360 games you purchased... install game.. play game

or wait until the store has a 360 games tab, open it and purchase a 360 game, play game

  10. Now hold on there about the Destiny thing. Halo 3 is currently available on the Xbox One within the Master Chief Collection, but it was also shown to be part of the games from the Xbox 360 that will become backwards compatible. Then again, there is a significant
age difference, not to mention multiplayer population...

  11. ^ Be interesting to see how they work that one out.

currently I have all the Halo's for the 8GB Xbox, XP-PC, as well as the 360. But if I get a X1 I would have to obtain a copy of MCC if for no other reason than to be able to play all those MP maps.

@OP - The backward compatibility isn't an 'emulation' of 360 games. The Xbox One runs the games natively.

I have no idea how they've managed to do it, but they've done it!

Natively through emulation, different chipset etc etc. The same as Non BC ps3's playing PS2 games, except that MS has been very quick with this.

  14. The way they "did it"?

Perhaps like a lot of windows 95 - XP PC games which Newer versions of windows would not allow to run. They probably with Windows 10 allowed the OS to recognize and run the discs/DDL etc.

It is well known for example that with Windows CE, the Sega Dreamcast via (Forget the name) could not only play Playstation games, but also run them at higher resolutions than even the Playstation itself.

Which is why when people said. "X86 architecture can't do BC." - I replied that. "Can't never could do anything."

Glad someone at Microsoft figured out that can't was an open invitation for pushing the limits of the system as a whole.

  15. Sure, With a Bleemcast boot disc you could play Ps1 on DC, or pre patched Iso's that wouldn't save. This is a response to sonys "playstation now" and an encouragement for 360 owners to upgrade. To everyone else it's a real bonus.
